FC: Our Visit to White Sands
Our Visit to White Sands by Joyce Miller December 2010
It was a sunny cold day as the Miller family drove to White Sands National Monument, located in New Mexico.
We parked at the Welcome Center and toured the small museum of how the sand dunes were made. Julie had to check and see if she had grown as tall as Leah.
We traveled down a long and winding road surrounded by dunes that look look like snow covered hills.
At the end of the road was a little building that turned out to be an outhouse(restroom).
We parked and took in the view.
We ate our lunch at a strange picnic table made of metal siding.
Next, it was time to hit the dunes with our sled. Pop was first to slide down.
Dustin is in search of Julie.
Julie made the great climb to the top of the dune.
Next, Julie's turn down the dune.
The thrill is short lived while the bumps and bruises last a little while longer.
 Leah does a walk about.
While driving out of the park, we stopped and walked along the board walk.
Here we viewed the plants at close up that grow along the dunes.
We headed back to Texas when our adventure on the dunes was over. We will always remember the White Sands of New Mexico.
