1: This mixbook is about the Pennsylvania dutch and their pottery/ lifestyle.

2: There are two types of pottery that the Pennsylvania Dutch made: Sgraffito

3: And Redware

4: Sgraffito | Sgraffito is made by applying to an unfired ceramic body two successive layers of contrasting slip, and then in either case scratching so as to produce an outline drawing.

6: Redware pottery is made from red clay which has been designed with images of natural things such as birds, plants, etc. It was common from the 18th to 19th century.There are two types of redware pottery: Basic redware and slipware.

7: Slipware, above, is redware pottery used for special occasions such as holidays and birthdays. It usually has more detailed designs. | Basic redware pottery was part of daily life, unlike slipware. It was used in the kitchen for all meals.
