FC: Poem Project by Travis Arnott

Poem/Song Lyrics Comparison I don’t see much of a relationship between Cloony the Clown and Through the Fire and Flames. They aren’t written the same way, they don’t share the same emotion. The only similarity I see at all is the length of the two. I don’t think they are similar in any way that matters. Cloony the Clown is written as an end rhyme poem. Through the fire and flames however, is written like a free verse poem that fits the tune. These do not mach and therefore the way they are written doesn’t match. Cloony the Clown is supposed to be kind of sad because a clown that tries to be funny never is until he talks about why he’s so sad. Through the fire and flames has a part in the music that sounds kind of sad but the lyrics point toward pride and all the rest of the song sounds like a fast paced battle. They are nothing alike in that way either. The only real relation between them is the length. Both are about a page long more or less. That’s all I can really see that’s the same about them…I mean really I don’t even know how to expand on that to make it more descriptive. I feel that nothing about the poem Cloony the Clown and the song Through the Fire and Flames is the same (not including length.) They aren’t written the same way and they don’t share the same emotion. I can’t think of anything else to compare them with.

Cloony The Clown from the book "A Light in the Attic" (1981) by Shel Silverstein I'll tell you the story of Cloony the Clown Who worked in a circus that came through town. His shoes were too big and his hat was too small, But he just wasn't, just wasn't funny at all. He had a trombone to play loud silly tunes, He had a green dog and a thousand balloons. He was floppy and sloppy and skinny and tall, But he just wasn't, just wasn't funny at all. And every time he did a trick, Everyone felt a little sick. And every time he told a joke, Folks sighed as if their hearts were broke. And every time he lost a shoe, Everyone looked awfully blue. And every time he stood on his head, Everyone screamed, "Go back to bed!" And every time he made a leap, Everybody fell asleep. And every time he ate his tie, Everyone began to cry. And Cloony could not make any money Simply because he was not funny. One day he said, "I'll tell this town How it feels to be an unfunny clown." And he told them all why he looked so sad, And he told them all why he felt so bad. He told of Pain and Rain and Cold, He told of Darkness in his soul, And after he finished his tale of woe, Did everyone cry? Oh no, no, no, They laughed until they shook the trees With "Hah-Hah-Hahs" and "Hee-Hee-Hees." They laughed with howls and yowls and shrieks, They laughed all day, they laughed all week, They laughed until they had a fit, They laughed until their jackets split. The laughter spread for miles around To every city, every town, Over mountains, 'cross the sea, From Saint Tropez to Mun San Nee. And soon the whole world rang with laughter, Lasting till forever after, While Cloony stood in the circus tent, With his head drooped low and his shoulders bent. And he said,"THAT IS NOT WHAT I MEANT - I'M FUNNY JUST BY ACCIDENT." And while the world laughed outside. Cloony the Clown sat down and cried. | Through the fire and flames [Small interlude] As the red day is dawning, and the lightning cracks the sky, They'll raise their hands to the heavens above with resentment in their eyes. Running back through the midmorning light, there's a burning in my heart; We're banished from a time in a fallen land, to a life beyond the stars. In your darkest dreams see to believe, our destiny is time, And endlessly we'll all be free tonight...! And on the wings of a dream, so far beyond reality; All alone in desperation, now the time has gone. Lost inside you'll never find, lost within my own mind, Day after day this misery must go on! So far away we wait for the day, For the lives all so wasted and gone, We feel the pain of a lifetime lost in a thousand days, Through the fire and the flames we carry on! [Big interlude] Now here we stand with their blood on our hands, We fought so hard now can we understand Ill break the seal of this curse if i possibly can For freedom of every man! So far away we wait for the day, For the lives all so wasted and gone, We feel the pain of a lifetime lost in a thousand days, Through the fire and the flames we carry on!

Found Poem(End Rhyme): As the red day is dawning, And while the world laughed outside. No one knew just what to do when all the people cried. They did what they could and what they should but then everybody died. That's life

Imitation poems Enclosed Rhyme They never know what to do when they can't pay to eat. somtimes they're forced to eat your feet. Somtimes they need a coup. | End Rhyme Yo mamas so dumb that she's as smart as my thumb and just looking at ur mum makes me go dumb she's so weird she even has a beard and yo mamas so fat, that she looks like a big cat

My own poem: Think Is thinking about a thought actually a thought that you think about or is it a thought about thinking that you think you thought about? If you thought about thinking, would you think about a thought, or the thought? think about it. also.... my haiku haikus are easy but sometimes they don't make sense refrigerator
