S: Dedicated to the silver prius.
BC: A mystifying book about a simple machine that revolutionized the world through thread and patterns.
FC: Power Loom by: Honza and Ethan
1: Dedicated to Mrs. Loomis
2: The Power Loom: A device that wove thread into cloth or fabric. It was a revolution over hand weaved, slow production.
3: Power Loom was run by Hydropower for about 4 years. Power Loom was then ran by steam. Steam was used for a very long time.
4: Through their eyes: People of the 1800's viewed their world as a place for expansion. Earth was a planet ready for innovations and population. The Power Loom helped fill that population with fabrics to live and build with. Their world views caused many inventions to be made to make the standard of living easier. People in the 1800's needed to value family, cattle, land, and help from other men. Together anything was possible. The white US population viewed the Power Loom as a great invention. The Black slave group viewed the Power Loom as a work station, or office. The Power Loom made slavery less harsh as the machine weaved instead of slave.
5: Cause and Effect: The Power Loom was invented to increase cloth production and quality. Edmund Cartwright invented the Power Loom because of a visit to a factory owned by Richard Arkwright. The Indians believed the Power Loom was abusing natural resources. The effects of the Power Loom caused more clothes to me made, and more money to be made.
6: Turning Points: The use of the Power Loom forever changed people's lives as it allowed different styles of clothing to be made, and made quickly. It allowed many blankets, cases, or anything built with fabric to be produced very fast to previous methods. | The use of the Power Loom affected future choices of the US by population growth. More clothes that people had to fill.
7: Change and Continuity: Power Loom was once the Loom. The Loom was hand spun. The first Power Loom ran off water. The Power Loom then ran off steam. Current days it runs off electricity. | People that have benefited are the people in clothing factories. They were allowed fasted production. People that have not benefited are those that cannot afford clothes.
8: Using the Past: The Power Loom is similar to current companies such as Fruit of the Loom. (Products of the cloth weaver.) Power Loom is different as it is all ran by robotic functioning programmed to do weaving. The history of the Power Loom tells us that people from the 1800's were smart and thinking of mass production. Consequently they also were very clean running, non polluting machines.
9: The Power Loom at work. You could call it the Grandma Knitter 5000.
