2: names of skunks in Georgia | Their are two very common types of skunks in Georgia. One is the striped skunk. It is the most recognizable skunk. It's scientific name is Mephitis mephitis. The other one is the eastern spotted skunk. This skunk is know for their white strips on it's head and shoulder. | pg 2

4: PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS | Skunks have many characteristics. Many skunks emit a putrid smell. Skunks have white strips all over their body. Skunks in Georgia become 17 to 28 inches in total length in their adult hood. | pg 4

5: HOW THE PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS HELP THE SKUNK SURVIVE | When the skunk emits a putrid smell it makes their predators go away. They use their whiter strips to tell us not to go near them.They use them so their predators will not come after them because they know not to go near them or they will get sprayed. | pg 5

6: description of their habitat | The eastern spotted skunk and the stripped skunk live in many places. They usually live in forest and grassy areas. The eastern spotted skunk also lives underneath buildings or homes. Some of these skunks live in hollow logs. | pg 6
