1: Sudan is located in North Africa, bordering the red sea between Egypt and Eritrea. | Location
2: Geography | Sudan, in Northeast Africa, is the largest country in the continent, measuring 1/4 the size the united states. Its neighbors are Chad, Egypt, Eritrea, and Libia. Also towards the south, is Congo, Kenya, and Uganda.
3: Climate | Sudan has a tropical weather. when its winter the lowest the tempertuer can go is about 40 degrees. Other climates in Sudan occur in the desert Zone.
4: Places of Interest | Kartdoum is the capital of sudan and has many intersting things to do there. It is surrounded by the two rivers. | Also, El- obeid is another because it is suited in the middle of the dessert and has a production of arabic gum.
5: Historical Events | In 1962, a civil war broke out againest the African/Christian Sudans in the southern part of Sudan. | USA launches a missile attack on a chemical plant in Khartoum assumed to be with the Al'Qaeeda network. | The Nile river floods leaving thousands of people homeless in Sudan.
6: Colonial Power | Towards the top is an old picture of Sudans former colonial power, Gerneral Gordon of Britian. Before coming to sudan, he distinguished himself to protect the rights of the blacks that were being sold my the muslims. Towards the bottam is a picture of the recent president, Omar Elbeshir.
7: Independence | Sudan got its idependence on January 1,1956 from eygpt and the UK. After the indepence, they stated a national hoilday on January 1st every year to celbrate the victorouas won of their country.
8: Omar Elbeshir is the current president of sudan, and the head of the national congress party. He came to power as a colonel in the Sudanese army. | Important Person
9: The population of sudan is 41,087,825 from July 2008. The percentages of age ranges are 40% of 0-14 , 15-64 ages is 56.8 % and 2.5%of 65 and up. | Population
10: Ethnic Groups and Tribes | In sudan there are five ethnic groups. There are 52% of blacks, 39% of arabs, baja 6%, foreignors 2% and other is 1%.
11: Religons | The main religons in sudan are Sunni Muslim 70% (in north part), Christian 5% (mostly in south and Khartoum), and indigenous beliefs 25%.
12: The main industries in sudan are oil, cotton ginning, textiles, cement, edible oils, sugar, soap distilling, shoes, petroleum refining, pharmaceuticals, armaments, and automobile/light truck assembly. | Main Industries

16: Income | The US ,CIA, reports that in 2001 Suda's GDP (central intellegence agency) was estimated to at $49.3 billion.
17: Goverment | The current goverment of Sudan is the Government of National Unity . It is the National Congress Party. Sudan's People's Liberation Movement formed a power-sharing government under the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement .This agreement stipulates national elections in 2009.
18: Leaders | In the picture above (left), is the Vice president of Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit. He has accomplished many things that helped improve sudan and its people. Towards the right is president, Omar Elbashir. He helped the econmy and has accomplished many things as well.
19: Problems and challenges | The problems that occur in Sudan are that there are many killings and fights that occur in the Darfur region. It is even called the most disterouas fighting that ever took place. But nobody is doing anything about the situation.
20: Until this day, Sudan still is hit in the face with problems. One major part in sudan that is still facing problems is Darfur. On October 2004, Sudanese government negotiated an end to the second sudanes civil war. Since then there has been a violent conflict in Darfur that has lead to thousands of deaths. | Conclusion
