FC: Survival on an Island Vishal Mehta

In Lord of the Flies, a bunch of kids get stranded on an island by the crashing of an escape plane. With the pilot nowhere to be found and no sign of civilization, the kids are forced to take on the conflict themselves, in which they pretty much fail.

Surviving on an Island 101 | Most of the time, when people get stranded on an island, the reason is due to a plane crash, or maybe a shipwreck. In any of these cases, do not panic, but follow these step-by-step instructions on how to survive on an island.

 1. Move away from the wreck | As soon as you crash, you want to run away from the wreck, taking any survivors and anything you might need with you such as bags, knives, blankets, and lighters or matches.

 2. Make sure all are accounted for | You would want to gather all of the survivers on the island to check how many there are and if anyone needs medical help.

 3. Find or make shelter | Try to find temporary shelter under some trees while you try to make a better one with leaves, sticks, or parts of the wreck.

Not blood, not alcohol, not urine, but water is the best to quench your thirst. Blood and urine would just dehydrate you more, and alcohol would lower your body temperature. One would probably die without water in a matter of days. | 4. Find WATER

 5. How to find water | Water can be found as dew on plants and on the bases of hills due to downhill water flow. A great way to find water is to find animal tracks leading downhill.

You should boil your water when it comes from possibly contaminated sources like streams. If you don't purify it, you could risk getting a disease like giardiasis. | 6. Cleaning Water

As you have seen, food is not as important as shelter and water when it comes to island survival. Surprisingly, you could live without food for as long as a few weeks with little risk of any permanent side effects. So, water and shelter are pretty much the only things that are absolutely necessary when stranded on an island.
