4: Arian Foster (athlete) | Arian Foster is the starting running back for the Houston Texans. Arian Foster was born on August 24, 1986 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He played college football at Tennessee. Arian Foster was an undrafted free agent on the NFL Draft and signed with the Houston Texans, At the beginning, he was the 3rd string running back, but as time progressed he became the starting running back for the Texans. Arian Foster is one of the best running backs in the NFL today. | A
5: Baylor Bears (football team) | The Baylor Bears is one of the football teams that participate in the Big 12 Conference in NCAA Football. The Bears play their home games at Floyd Casey Stadium. The 2011 football season was a productive season for the Bears because they won their first Bowl Game since 1992 and they beat the Oklahoma Sooners in the 2011-2012 season, which they have lost to over a decade without winning a single one of their meetings. 6: Cameron Boyd (athlete) | Cameron Boyd is an athlete that plays both lacrosse (picture above is Cameron giving a kid a concussion) and football, both A-Team. Cameron lives in the Westlake Area and attends Hill Country Middle School, where he excels in both sports. Cameron plays football mostly on defense. Outside of sports, he is a talented Texas History where he learns about history and stuff from a good teacher named Coach Kee. Cameron is a talented athlete that is talented in both sports and academics | C
7: Dallas Cowboys (football team) | D | The Dallas Cowboys is a football organization in Texas that is part of the National Football League, or NFL. The Dallas Cowboys' Franchise is tied with the most Super Bowl appearances with the Steelers, which is 8, and most appearances in the NFC Championship game. These records and achievements yet have not been challenged. The leaders of the old Cowboys Troy Aikman and Emmit Smith makes this franchise a powerful team and it still is.
8: Emmit Smith (athlete) | E | Emmit Smith was an American Football running back for the NFL on the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals, He was on of the NFL's best running backs. Emmit Smith was part of the Dallas Cowboys team that went to the Super Bowl 3 times. Although Emmit was not the fastest or strongest, his running ability was outstanding because of his great vision and balance. Emmit Smith is a Hall of Fame running back that retired in 2005.
9: F | Frank Erwin Center (venue) | The Frank Erwin Center is a recreational center held for special events, such as hosting athletic competitions such as basketball for the Austin Toros, a D-League basketball team for the San Antonio Spurs and mostly for the University of Texas Longhorns men's and women's basketball. The Frank Erwin Center is located in downtown Austin, Texas but is visited by many from other states
10: G | Gerald J. Ford Stadium | Gerald J. Ford Stadium is owned by Southern Methodist University, or SMU for college athletic activities, such as football. This stadium is located in Dallas and had the capacity of 32,000 people. This stadium was opened on September 2, 2000, before that it was the Ownby Stadium. The Gerald J. Ford stadium is not named after the president Gerald r. Ford but the billionaire banker who provided money for the construction of it | Venue
11: H | Houston Cougars | The Houston Cougars are a college division team in the NCAA in the Big East Conference. The Cougars play at Robertson Stadium in Houston and the team has several conference championships and several members of the college football Hall of Fame and a Heisman Trophy winner. As time progressed, Houston lost their lust and had a losing 8 bowl streak until they beat Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl in 2008. | Football Team
12: I | Chaparral Ice | Chapparal Ice is an ice skating rink in Austin, Texas on I-35 . This place was created for recreational activities and athletic ice events, such as figure skating and hockey. Chaparral Ice also is a public learning center for people who cannot skate. This skating arena is for kid hockey teams where they play and have a good time. | (Venue)
13: J | Javelin Throwing | In Texas, college athletes from the Big 12 Conference of Track and Field participate in an event of Javelin throwing, since Texas has a wide variety of open space land, javelin throwing is held at colleges too such as Texas Tech, UT, and Texas A&M. Javelin Throwing is a serious athletic event that involves brute strength.The javelin throw is a track and field athletics throwing event where the object to be thrown is the javelin, a spear approximately 8ft and 2 in in length. Javelin is an event of both the men's decathlon and the women's heptathlon. It is a fun sport | (History and how it relates to Texas)
14: K | Khoa Pham (athlete) | Khoa Pham is a Vietnamese athlete that attends Hill Country Middle School. He is a hard core basketball and ping pong player. He was on the 7th grade A-team for basketball and was a valuable asset. Khoa plans to try out for football in 8th grade. After school, Khoa usually enjoys a plate of fried rice while doing his homework and reading a story about Texas History. He tries to excel in academics and is talented with a calculator.
15: L | Lacrosse | Lacrosse in Texas is taken very seriously as much as football and basketball. Lacrosse is a sport that is as physical as football. In the game of Lacrosse, you wear a helmet and pads and use a lacrosse stick and play with a lacrosse ball. The main objective of lacrosse is to carry the ball with your stick to the other goal. This sport was created by Native Americans in Texas and is still used today. | Sport | History
16: M | Memorial Stadium (Venue) | Venue | The Darrell K Royal- Texas Memorial Stadium is located in Austin, Texas and has been the home of the UT Longhorns since 1924. The stadium capacity is about 100,119. This stadium one of the largest in Texas and Big 12 Conference. Areas in the stadium are named for Texans who fought in War World I. The Stadium however was named after Darrell K. Royal who did not fight in the war but he did win 3 national championships and 11 southern conference titles.
17: N | NYTEX Sports Center | Venue | The NYTEX Sports Center is a sports arena located in North Richland Hills, Texas. This arena is home of the Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League and the Texas Outlaws of the Professional Arena Soccer League. This arena was opened in 1999 and can hold 2,400 people and is an exciting place to see some of your favorite teams!
18: O | Orienteering | History | In Austin, Texas, a club was organized to promote the sport of orienteering. Orienteering is a family sport that requires navigational skills using a map and a compass on an unfamiliar terrain and moving at a normal speed. Orienteering is included in the World Games and is taken seriously as a sport mostly used for military officers. Orienteering is a complex sport but is extremely fun and is used to help you in everyday life. Orienteering teaches you navigational skills and teamwork
19: P | Palmer Events Center | Venue | The Palmer Events center is located in Austin near Butler Park in Barton Springs. The Palmer Events Center is a stadium/arena and is widely known for holding many occasions such as athletic events and recreational ones such as plays. The Palmer Event Center can also be compared to the Frank Erwin Center, which is also in Austin. Both of these arenas are alike in holding sports events and recreational activities. The Palmer Event Center is huge and is a place to see everything.
20: Q | Quidditch | History | Quidditch is a sport that came from the book Harry Potter but is now practiced in real life. Quitdditch is when people ride on broomsticks and have 4 balls and have to throw it in ring-shaped goals. The University of Texas has quidditch team that participate in a quidditch tournament and is practiced by many all over the nation. This sport involves coordination and preciseness. It is a fun sport
21: R | Red Neck Games | Competitions | The Redneck Games are held in Texas. The Redneck Games are a bunch of recreational activities held for rednecks like bobbing for pigs and eating alligators. The Redneck Games are mostly a bunch of people gather around for a fun event with people with the theme of rednecks (rednecks are white people that hunt and live in the rural area). The Redneck Games contains crazy and exciting games of hopping in a pool of mud to dumpster diving. Come and enjoy it!
22: S | San Antonio Spurs | Team (Basketball) | The San Antonio Spurs are a professional basketball team in the NBA an currently are the top seed in the Western Conference. The Spurs' Franchise have won 4 Championships, only behind the Celtics, Bulls, and Lakers. The Spurs play at the AT&T Center and the owner is Peter Holt. The Spurs jersey colors are white, silver, and black. The Spurs are an elite team and is a challenge to any NBA team that faces them.
23: T | Texas Longhorns | (Football)Team | The Texas Longhorns football team was created in 1893 and is still continued today. The Longhorns re in the Big !2 Conference Division 1 of the NCAA football league and is ranked second in bowl game appearances and fourth on victories of those bowl games. Their head coach is Mack Brown and has one of the best winning victories in ll of college football histories. Their mascot is Bevo and their colors are burnt orange and white. The Longhorns are a great organization and have been to 2 BCS Championship games in the best 8 years. The Longhorns are a great organization
24: U | Unicycle Football | History of it in Texas | Unicycle Football is the sport of football while playing on an unicycle! Recruiting unicycle teams are held in Austin, Texas and they practice in Texas too. There is even a Unicycle Football League or UFL. Texas also holds unicycle football competitions for fun. In the sport of unicycle football, you try to get the football to the goal on a unicycle. The sport is the same as real football but you do everything on a unicycle!
25: V | Volleyball | History | Volleyball is co-ed sport that is highly respected and involves teamwork. Volleyball is 2 teams split into six on each side. Each team tries to score points by grounding the ball on the opponents side under organized rules. Although volleyball is a very serious sport, you can play it for fun at a beach or in the pool. Texas Volleyball is one of the main sports in the state. Many teams from Texas participate in competitions around the nation, not just professional teams but select teams from different age groups from 12 and up. Texas Volleyball is one of the dominant leaders in the sport nationwide!
26: W | World Gliding Championship | Competition | In 2012, the World Gliding Championship will be held at Uvalde, Texas. This is a gliding competition held every 2 years or so of gliders all around the world and it is our honor to sponsor it here in Texas. Gliding is not part of the Olympics so it is a separate type of competition. Many worldwide professional athletes of gliding travel all over the world for this coming from Germany, Sweden, Argentina etc. The World Gliding Championship is an exciting sport and will take your breath away by all the professional athlete's moves and routines. It is possible in Texas because of its wide variety of open space land and good weather conditions .
27: X | X-Games | Competition | X Games is an annual sport event competition held for professionals in the most extreme sports! during the Summer X Games, which are held in Los Angeles, are sports like skate boarding, bike riding, motocross and car racing, all sports are graded on ability and extreme tricks! One famous Summer X Game player is Tony Hawk. In the Winter X Games the sports are skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling, also graded on ability and tricks. One famous for the Winter X Games is Shaun White, one of the best snowboarders in the world. Many Texas professional X Gamers compete in this and compete with the best. The X Games are exciting and really excited to watch.
28: Y | Yao Ming | Athlete | Yao Ming was born in Shanghai but moved to America and was selected in the 2002 NBA Draft to play for the Houston Rockets in Houston, Texas for the National Basketball Associations or NBA. With the height of 7 foot 6, Yao Ming was one of the most dominant centers in the whole league and was a 8 time all star. Yao Ming is mostly known for his height and his ability to rebound the ball for his height. Yao Ming is now retired now at age 31 because of constant injuries of the foot and ankle, because he is so tall! You can find out more about Yao in his co-written book The Year of The Yao.
29: Z | The Zombie 5k | Competition | The Zombie 5k is a fun recreational competition held in Austin and Boston and other cities in the U.S. This competition is a long race where everyone is dressed up like zombies. It is a race full of scary obstacle courses and is full of running zombies for 5 kilometers. This race comes with multiple prizes and a survival guide when zombies come! This race contains obstacles, zombies, friends, and family. This race is very exciting and fun and it will scare the peeout of you
