Once upon a time there was a boy named Negative. He lived in the rain forest. Every day he had to walked one mile to school. His school was in a village called Remainder.
The teacher asks the class a question and Negative raised his hand, so the teacher called on him. He answered the question wrong. Then all kids laughed at him.
That night he ran away and got tired so he laid down and fell asleep on the trail. That night he woke up in a dark room. Soon, he figured out that he had been captured by Divide. The worst person in all the rain forest.
Divide asked Negative a question. The question was 363.25 divided by 45.4?
Negative was scared because if he got it wrong the village will be destroyed. Negative thought “I have to move the decimal in the divisor and in the dividend. So I am really dividing 3,632.5 by 454. Next how many times will 4 go into 36?” Then he continued till he came up with the answer.
Negative said, “8.001101322” Then divide said, “That is right.”
The village clapped and cheered because Negative got his first question right and he saved the village. From that day on everyone called him Positive.
