FC: The Underground Railroad By Darian Moede

1: The Underground Railroad helped many slaves from the South to get to the North to be free. The people who were apart of this organization were usually what others would call abolitionists.

2: Harriet Tubman Was a runaway slave that escaped to the North but kept coming back to the South to help other slaves also escape to the North. She was never caught by anyone.

3: Fredrick Douglass was an escaped slave that became a part of the Underground Railroad. he published the North Star which was an abolitionist paper.

4: Time Line 1562-Britain joins slave trade 1705-Slaves as property 1793-Fugitive Slave Act 1808-United States bans slave trade 1847-Fredrick Douglass's newspaper 1849-Harriet Tubman escapes 1860-Abraham Lincoln elected 1861-65-United States Civil War 1865-Slavery abolished

5: > If the Underground Railroad wasn't created, we would still have abused slaves. > This was obviously a big part of the Civil War. > The slaves definitely benefited from this. and the slave owners definitely did not benefit from this. >The Underground Railroad is not around today because we don't have slavery and life would definitely be different if we did not have it in the world during the Civil War.
