S: The Civil War

FC: New Weaponry by Seth Weber

1: Many different weapons were used in the Civil War including the following I will talk about in this mix book.

2: The Mortar | This device is easy to move and can be used by one man alone. An explosive shell is fired high into the air and explodes on impact.. and was the most destructive weapon used in the civil war.

4: The Cannon The cannons used were very heavy and difficult to move. The largest needed team of 16 horses to move them. Commonly, smaller cannon were used but even to move them was hard. They fired balls of iron, but sometimes stones were used.

6: The Musket There was two types of muskets, the matchlock and the flint lock, which was as long as five feet long, and had a firing range of 300 yards. They were both loaded the same way. Loading was a slow process and often times the last person loaded was the first to die. Both weapons were clumsy to use. Some of the longer muskets needed a rest to balance the barrel on because it was to heavy to hold.

8: I believe that the weapons in the Civil War made many more deaths than if there were no other weapons besides swords and axes.
