1: The first feet The first feet of 11 ships left Portsmouth on May, 13, 1787 on the ship for convicts. Captain Arthur Phillip was in charge of the first feet to go to New South Wales. On 3rd of June they found a port called Tenerife. The people stayed there one week. They got lots of food. On 5th of August they sailed along to Rio de Janeiro and they stayed there for one month. They bought seeds and fresh food. | By October the fleet was in Cape T own. They bought animals, seeds and fresh supplies. They next sailed to the South land. On 20th of January in 1788 they found Botany Bay. On the bay they found sandy soil, some trees and a little bit of water, so the people sailed up the coat. The people thought that the coast was the too shallow so they sailed to New South Wales. They found Port Jackson and they lived there.
