16: In October 1929 the worst economic depression in U.S history happened. It was not just one factor it was a ton. The major when that is believed the cause of the depression was the stock market crash on October 29, 1929. Then there was the bank failures, reduction in purchasing across the board, American economic policy with Europe, and drought conditions. The Great Depression started in 1929 and ended around the late 130s-1940's.
18: Life During the depression was difficult. The entire nation suffered. A shocking 5 million people were unemployed and soon after almost 13 million. Children left school to help there family's work. It was a daily struggle every day not knowing where you could be tomorrow or what am I going to eat? It affected everybody some people had to live on the streets some people couldn't even afford to buy food for the hungry families. The great depression ended when WWII begun. It gave men and women jobs. But it took a while for the U.S to get out of its slump
