1: The Gupta Empire lasted from A.D. 320 TO A.D 535

2: The Gupta Empire was located in the Northern Plain of India

4: In A.D. 320, a young and ambitious warrior united the north, he took the name Chandragupta I, he set up the Gupta Dynasty. Under the rule of the Gupta's, India enjoyed a golden age.

5: Achievements: Art, Literature, and Mathematics flourished in the Gupta Empire. In art, artists would paint beautiful murals on cave walls illustrating every day life. In literature, Gupta writers produced fine poems and dramas. The best known poet and playwright was Kalidasa. His play Shakuntala is still performed today. In mathematics, Indian scholars developed the concept of zero and invented the decimal system, using symbols for the number 1 through 9.

6: Decline: As Gupta powers declined the Huns, a nomadic people from Central Asia, invaded South Asia. Their arrival marked the end of the Gupta Empire.
