S: The Pearl By John Steinbeck
BC: Personally, I believe the moral of the story is to trust in what you know, and always have faith. Also, to be satisfied with what you have, or you will never be happy.
FC: The Pearl By John Steinbeck
1: Project by: Taylor Daff Mrs. Crew 5th period November 3, 2010
2: In 1902, John Steinbeck was born in Salinas, California. Though Steinbeck attended Stanford University,, he never finished due to his moving to New York to become a writer.
3: After publishing a few books, and moving back to California, Steinbeck died in 1968.
4: The Pearl mainly took place in a Mexican town named La Paz. Kino and his family lived along the coast line in small brush houses.
5: Another main setting in the book takes place in the city of La Paz where the doctor lives. The doctor lives in the city in a nice house with bougainvilleas growing all around.
7: Juana is a woman with thick skin, and a strong back bone. She is the "wife" of Kino, and the mother of Coyotito.
9: Coyotito is the child of Kino and Juana. Coyotito is stung by a scorpion in the beginning of the book.
11: Kino is the "husband" of Juana, and the father of Coyotito. Kino is the one who finds the pearl becomes overwhelmed with greed, and turnes dangeraous.
12: The Doctor
13: In The Pearl, The Doctor was the man that rejected help to Coyotito, Juana, and Kino. The Doctor only offered help to the baby when he realized Kino found a pearl.
14: Coyotito was stung by a scorpion in this chapter. The entire village travels with Kino and Juana to visit the Doctor in the city. The Doctors rejection makes Kino and Juana mad. | Chapter One
15: Kino and Juana do not have the money for the doctors help. Because Kino does not have the money, he and Juana searched for something they could sell. Coyotito's wound worsened, until Kino and Juana find the pearl. | Chapter Two
16: Everyone in the village knows about the pearl. The doctor acts like he does not know about the pearl when he comes to "treat" the baby. | Chapter Three
17: Everyone wants Kino to sell the pearl. The pearl sellers tell him it isnt worth what he wants to he goes to the capital to sell the pearl. | Chapter Four
18: Kino and Juana left the village. Juana tried to steal the pearl from Kino. Kino gets angry and chases after Juana. He beats her and takes the pearl back. | Chapter Five
19: Kino and Juana were with the baby out in the mountains. hiding from the trackers. Kino tried to distract the trackers, but they shot him. Then the baby cried and a tracker shot the baby in the head. | Chapter Six
