4: Kino: A young indian man. Married with 1 son

5: Juana: Kino's wife. She was quiet and mainly listened to Kino's instructions

6: Chapter 1 Summary Kino and his family are being introduced in the story, and everything seems like it's perfect. Coyotito, Kino's son, was stung by a scorpion. Kino and Juana traveled to the doctor to get help. The doctor turned them down because of thier race and lack of money.

7: Chapter 2 Summary Kino was is very upset, but he will not give on up on his son. Kino went to find a pearl to pay for the doctor's treatment. He searched for the pearl in the Gulf while Juana comforted the baby. Kino found "the great pearl" and people rushed to see it.

8: Chapter 3 Summary News is spreading quickly about Kino's pearl. People are starting to think about how the pearl would benfit them. Now Kino is plotting his future and thinking about how the money will help Coyotitio. Even the bad people are conjuring up their skems

9: Chapter 4 Summary A lot of things that were important are just not the main focus anymore. All people talk about is the pearl, and nothing else. In this chapter Kino tries to sale the pearl, but is not pleased with the offers he recieves. Kino decides to take his pearl to the capital.

10: Chapter 5 Summary The pearl has become evil. It even turns Kino and Juana against each other. Juana tries to toss the pearl back into the water, and Kino stopped her before she went through with her plan. Kino struck her in the face with his clenched fist, and he kicked her in the side.

11: Chapter 6 Summary Now people have become animals, and others have become savages. Kino and his family are treated like pray, and are hunted down. Many things go on in this chapter, but I can't give it all away. Through all of the troubles Coyotito ends up loosing his life.
