2: Stephen F. Austin

4: Stephen F. Austin was known as the "Father of Texas" because he brought in more than 1200 families to settle in the great state . He served as the Secretary of State for the Republic of Texas The capital of Texas is named after him. Stephen F. Austin urged Texans to revolt against Mexican rule.

6: Davy Crockett

9: Davy Crockett was born on August 17, 1786 and died at the Alamo on March 6, 1836. Crockett was a frontiersman, bear hunter, sharpshooter, soldier, legislator, and folk hero. Crockett and 200 others unsuccessfully defended the Alamo against Santa Ana.

10: Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana | Santa Ana was President of Mexico and the Chief General of the Mexican forces. He successfully captured the Alamo and Goliad. All the defenders of these two locations were killed during the intense fighting. Santa Ana was defeated by Sam Houston at the Battle of San Jacinto.
