FC: The Third Crusade By Colton Ritchie
1: The Third Crusade was a crusade by European leaders to reconquer the holy land from Salin. It was also known as the Kings Crusade. It lasted for 3 years, from 1189-1192.
2: The time of the Third Crusade as a time where the church was the main part of life. The church was the cause of the crusades.
3: Using swords in close combat, there was a lot of violence in the fight for the holy land.
4: There were may great leaders during the Third Crusade. These included Richard the Lion Hart, Fredrick of Germany, and King Philip of France.
5: Although the main goal of the crusade, to take Jerusalem, was not achieved, many great things did come after the crusade. It helped bring an end to feudalism, by bringing back great goods that England had never seen, like salt and silk.
6: This caused trade routes, and gave the country great new things. Also, Richard settled a peace treaty with Salin, the Muslim leader defending Jerusalem, that allowed pilgrims to enter Jerusalem. Although Jerusale was not taken, the Third Crusade could still be considered a success.
