S: To Kill A Mockingbird
BC: Scout All Grown Up My name is Jean Louise "Scout" Finch. I am forty years old now. When I was a child and the Tom Robinson trial happened I didn't really understand the specifics of the case. It wasn't until I got much older that I realized my father was trying to change a way of thinking that had been around as long as slavery had. That colored people were below white people.. I will never forget what my father tried to change.
FC: To Kill a Mockingbird Scrapbook
Miss Caroline Miss Caroline, my first teacher, boy I was not sad when she was no longer my teacher.
Maycomb School The school that Jem and I went to even though I hated it.
The Oak Tree This tree represents the Oak tree that Mr. Boo Radley left gifts in for me and Jem at the beginning of my second year of school.
The Mockingbird This bird is a mockingbird, which Atticus told us was a sin to kill 'cause all they do is make music for us.
My Favorite Thing to Wear Overalls, my most favorite thing to wear, much to Aunty's dislike.
Scout's Bedroom My bed, where Dill was just hiddin' one day, scared the life outta me he did. Thought he mighta been a snake or sumthing.
Finch's Landing Finch's Landing, man this place is beautiful, but it comes with way to many responsibilities.
Miss Maudie's House This is what Miss Maudie's house looked like when it was burnin' down just before Christmas time.
The Blanket The blanket the we think Mr. Boo Radley put around my shoulders when we was standin in front of his house when Miss Maudie's house was burnin down.
The Jail House The jail house where Atticus was just sittin' one night. I still don't know why he was just sittin' there readin'...
Atticus Atticus is the best man there is. He is a loving father and does what he thinks is right. Even if I don't understand him. | Plus he's a lawyer so he knows what he's talking about and is really quite at making compromises.
Aunt Alexandra My Aunt Alexandra who lives with us. She keeps trying to teach me to be a "lady" even though I don't really want to be one. | Aunt Alexandra is always working on her cross stitching. I don't really know why but I suspect that even though she seems like she isn't paying attention when we talk about important stuff she really is listening to everything.
Calpurnia Calpurnia, she's like a mother to me. She's always been there for me and I love her. Even though we don't always see eye to eye I will always love her.
Dill Dill arrived one summer and became my best friend. The next summer he said he was going to marry me and I said ok. We are close in age but I hate that he has to go back to Mississippi at the end of every summer.
Tom Robinson I didn't really understand what Mr. Robinson had supposedly done that was so bad but I know that it wasn't right for him to be found guilty.
Miss Dubose | I never really understood what was wrong with Mrs. Dubose. She was just a mean and unkind lady to me. I didn't realize that she was so sick.
Miss Maudie It was so sad when Miss Maudies house burnt down. But she seemed rather ok with it. I don't think I would have been as ok with it as she was if it was me.
The Court House It was so crowded in there during the trial. But for as many people as were in there it was quiet as a mouse. It was quite peculiar.
Tom is Dead We were in the middle of Aunty's meeting when Atticus came home. He said that Tom had died, he needed Calpurnia to come with him. He was going to tell Mrs. Robinson that her husband was dead. Aunt Alexandra surprised me she told Atticus that she was sorry it had ended this way.
Arthur "Boo" Radley Mr. Radley sure did scare me until I met him. After I met him though he was a real nice fella. Not at all a scary monster like I thought he would be.
Thank You When we woke up the morning after the trial none of us were prepared for all of the food that people had left on our back porch to say thank you for trying to help Tom Robinson.
