WWII - Page Text Content

Why did the US get involved? In March 1940 the Lend-Lease act was passed, which made the U.S. no longer neutral. And after our awareness of Hitler's dictatorship in Germany became more prominent, FDR saw it fit to aid British and French troops. This is what ultimately led to the involvement of the U.S, in combination with the attack on Pearl Harbor.

When did the U.S. get involved? The technical beginning of the U.S. involvement in WWII was Dec. 7th, 1941, the morning of the attack on PH, but the U.S. didn't officially declare war until Dec. 8th.

When did U.S. involvement end? The U.S. was involved in WWII until the very end, 1945, when two atomic bombs were dropped on Japan, forcing surrender.

Part of the reason that other countries became involved with WWII was because of the dictatorship of Adolf Hitler, who despite his overwhelming amount of supporters, always had a single goal in mind - eliminating all Jewish people. Once other countries became aware of his concept, they became more involved.

Over 100 countries were technically in involved in WWII, though the war was primarily Germany (Axis Powers) and Italy (Allies).

The most infamous weaponry from WWII is, without a doubt, the unforgettable bomb that ended it; the atomic bomb. This weapon was devised by unknowing American's through a secret government project called The Manhattan Project. This was a feat of American History - having so many people responsible for the winning of World War II, unbeknown to them.

From Peggy the Pinup Girl to Rosie the Riviter. As men were pulled away and drafted to war, women were expected to work the jobs that men had been working pr- eviously. As the war ca- me to an end, however, w- omen were "encouraged" to quit their jobs for the sake of the men returni- ng home to no jobs.

The economic crisis slowly began to resolve come 1938, but in reality the US encountered what is called "wartime posterity" in 1941. The US became involved in World War II, and wars are expensive. However, the wars are mostly expensive for government and not consumer. Military uniforms need to be made, rations need to be stored, soldiers need to be drafted. As our involvement increased, so did our need for supplies. And as the need for supplies increased, so did our employment levels. More people needed more workers, and bank account slowly began to rebuild themselves. The end of the Great Depression was very much single handedly on the posterity brought on by the tragedy of World War II.
