In 1973, Roger married his soul mate and love of his life, Patty Nelson, and together, they had two daughters, Roxanne (Larry) Pyle and Sharon (Tim) Ell. Roger worked for over 35 years at Bobcat and mastered nearly every position; he ended his career there as a painter. After his semi-retirement, Roger worked up until his passing at the Bismarck Tribune and as the site manager of Turbo Spa Car Wash. Roger loved the outdoors and spent many hours fishing, hunting and woodworking. Reading was also a favorite pastime. Roger was never a shy person and would strike up a conversation with anyone. His favorite ending to each conversation was usually, “Take ’er easy.” Roger adored his grandchildren and many of his conversations contained the stories of his interaction and love of them. In fact, Roger loved children in general and would taxi the grandkids and their friends, who would also call him grandpa, to and from such places as the local skate parks, the mall and their sporting events. He never said no and was always there. He was always ready to tell a story, help with homework or horse around. Roger will be remembered by all those who loved and knew him as a happy and generous person who never let things get him down. He was everything you could ask for in a husband, father and grandpa. Roger will live on forever in the hearts of his family and the twinkle in the grandbaby’s eyes. We love you Roger, take ’er easy and love ya.
