FC: 2012 | The Rickards

1: This year was about being strong. It was about pulling up bootstraps and carrying on even when things were changing. We got through it. We Vacationed... Met New People... Visited OldFriends... As this 2012 closes, it is safe to say that our little family did pretty darn good.

2: 2012 | Secret Forest

3: The Secret forest, in Yorktown, was one of our favorite family places in 2012. These pictures, from February of 2012, were taken off marlpit rd.

4: Carley traveled to Yorktown from her home in NOVA for our trip to Emergency Medical Tech refresher training at the Great Smokey Mountains NP in February of 2012 | We spent time in the Yorktown battlefields before driving to TN with Chris.

5: We stayed in a cruddy Condo in Gatlinburg, TN, drank an inhuman amount of "moonshine" at the local spot, and played mini golf and arcade games. We did learn a little bit of EMT stuff and CarBear was photographed with a bear. | CarBear | Ranger Noles | Chris Chaffee

9: Isaac Turned 8 on April 2nd, 2012. For his party, we had a squirt gun fight in the backyard.

13: On May 24th, 2012, the newly designated Fortress Monroe in Hampton held a flag raising ceremony. Military veterans, boy scouts, and current service members gathered to pay homage to the new flag over Fortress Monroe- the first to be flown since closing its' gates to the military in 2011.

14: During my June 2012 trip home to Edmonds, Washington, I met my bio-dad and family. Turns out, they lived 10 minutes away from me my whole life...who knew! left: Brian, Juniper, Alyssa, Borrowed Baby, Dad, Me, Ember, and Danielle Right: Dad's Girlfriend Nike, Jon, Me, Alyssa, and Borrowed Baby

16: In addition to seeing the Ouellettes, I spent time with my Skagit Valley College Academy friend Ernie Penn, visited with my oldest girlfriend Raven Tia Alexander and her son Taan, and spent a whole lot of time with my MOM!

19: FLETC friend Lana and I hiked the 5 miles up the Dosewallips to Dose Forks Campground. While I played, Lana worked on fixing up the Ranger Station and meeting with volunteers. It had been a long time since I hiked in Washington and I took plenty of time to marvel at the beauty of the Olympics. | Dosewallips River OlympicNational Park with Lana

25: A day at the water with Misti, Zach, and Mer Furr in Staunton

26: The boys and I visited Misti at her work- the Museum of American Frontier Culture in Staunton, Virginia. We saw different styles of farms, learned how to spin and weave flax, and chased chickens! July 2012 | English Farm Goat | An Irish Chicken | The African Hut

28: The view of Shenandoah from our room at Skyland. We stayed a night here during our mother son hike and adventure weekend.

30: My little troopers hiked about 4 miles with little complaint. They saw a snake, water bugs, and deer as we went up the trail. We even took a dip in the chilly lower falls pool.! | Our hike took us from the White OakCanyon Lower Lot to the Lower Cedar Run Falls

31: We spent a night with my parkie friend Kelly at Coby Bishops old rented hours. We had dinner in Harrisonburg and shared some laughs and stories.

33: Our first weekend trip! Camping at Mathew's Arm Campground in North District of Shenandoah, hiking on the Cedar Run/White OakCanyon loop, and an intertube trip down the Shenandoah. It was wonderful!

35: Vinnie and I enjoyed the Best Campfire Food Ever after our hike at White Oak Canyon. Our meal consisted of green beans and veggies, corn, and a really good steak. The next day we took a tubing trip down the Shenandoah without a camera. It was a wonderful trip and the first of many weekends spent with each other.

37: Vinnie and I with the kids at Bear Creek Lake State Park for a Passaro and Rickard camping trip at the end of our 2012 summer. Fun and Friends!

41: Vinnie and the Rough Green Snake on the Trail | Vinnie's impromptu interpretation. | Carrying Sophia near the end of the 6 1/2 mile kid hike. | The day Jacob fell in love with snakes.

43: During the summer, the boys and I took a day trip to Sandbridge, Virginia where we had a blast playing at the beach!

45: Vinnie and his family invited the boys and I to relax at their beachouse in Reedville, Virginia in August and September. We spent many weekends playing in the sand and surf, kayaking, grilling, and enjoying the view from their beautiful property. | Beach House!

46: We would awake in the morning snuggled in the crisp sheets of the yellow room. Isaac enjoyed using the telescope while at the beach house. During dinner one night, we marveled over a preying mantis as it prepared for the nightly hunt. Later that night, after the kids had gone to bed, we saw the mantis chowing down on its evening snack.

49: We readied for pumpkin carving with a trip to the Belmont Pumpkin Farm in October of 2012. The kids picked out their own pumpkins for carving, we ran through a corn maze, and enjoyed the playground!

52: Jacob Turned 7 on October 30th, 2012 and we held his birthday party at Rebounderz in Newport News. He had a Blast!

53: Trick or Treat! The boys dressed as a black ninja and link with swords made by Vinnie and I. Sophia went as Cinderella. We met up for hot cider at Claire's after the festivities.

54: We met new friends at Houlihan's Chili and Grill Night

55: Kissy Face! | I took a whole lot of kisses in 2012.

57: Vinnie, Sophia, Isaac, Jacob, and Raquel all packed up and visited Jamestown Island for an afternoon of pecan picking in November of 2012. We may have missed most of the pecans, as they all turned out rotten. We still had a great time! With Love, The Passaros and Rickards | Historic Jamestowne Jamestown, Virginia

59: Thanksgiving was held at Vinnie's house in 2012. Gino, Claire, Jan, Mike, the Kids, Vinnie, and Raquel were all in attendance. The "Grown Ups" were treated to the first Thanksgiving where they didn't have to cook or clean...much. | Food and Spinning Coma

60: Fall Walk! | The Burkses, Passaros and Rickards took a walk at Sandy Bottom Nature Park after Thanksgiving.

61: We took the wetland trail around the remediation project. It had been many years since the boys and I visited Sandy Bottom and they had a wonderful time remembering the good times we had. I snapped an artistic photograph of mom and dad as they wandered into the light on the trail.

62: Grandma and Grandpa Burks stayed at our house from November 19th through the 27th. It was wonderful seeing them in Seaford and the boys will remember their visit for many years to come!

63: We spent an afternoon at the Yorktown Bowling Alley family bowl. Grandma's hair flew every time she threw the ball!

65: Laura is growing up so fast. crawling around getting into anything and everything. Before you know it she'll be walking. | Getting the Tree with Grandma and Grandpa Burks!

69: A Whirlwind Day at the Outlets, Yankee Candle, and Christmas Town.

72: We thought it would be fun to surprise Dad with a day at the river. The kids woke him up bright and early with breakfast in bed and gave him the Fathers Day cards they made. Then we packed up the car and drove to the river where we all went whitewater rafting. We stopped half way down the river to eat lunch and then we hiked up to a beautiful waterfall. Later in the day the kids gathered some firewood for a campfire. We all sat around listening to Dad share stories from his childhood. It was such a fun day. The kids got wet and had a blast and will remember this day with Dad forever. | GeoCaching with the Deeses! Mitchel and Andrew

77: Laura is growing up so fast. crawling around getting into anything and everything. Before you know it she'll be walking.

78: New Years Eve Party at John's House! There was dancing.

79: Guests of the 2012 yearbook included the Furr's Shuni, Tal, Sophia, Vinnie, Claire, Digimo, The Deese's, Kelly, Carley, Chris, and many others. Thanks family and friends for making this book possible! Many wonderful wishes for 2013!
