FC: The class of 1959 Ockbrook School celebrates 50th reunion Cafe Bleu Newark, Notts September 18, 2009

1: 50th Reunion of Ockbrook School celebrated September 18th 2009 at Cafe Bleu in Newark Nottinghamshire; attended by 18 graduates of a class of 26. The menu was selected by the proprietors of the establishment in consultation with Clare . A copy of this menu can be found in this book . It did not take long for everyone to meet and greet one another and reminisce about the days we enjoyed and did not enjoy while attending school. Everyone talked about the punishments dealt out for somewhat trivial misdemeanors and the pleasures of midnight feast made more enjoyable because the consequences would be so severe if caught. When asked what we remembered most from our school days most remembered teachers like Miss Harris (math), Miss Boyd (athletics) Miss Parish, and Miss Lowe these were not all remembered favorably in fact we are convinced that they were married to the school. None had a life outside of Ockbrook and spent their time ensuring the school rules were strictly adhered to, this appeared to be their main goal in life. However, one Ms Vaughan inspired Zoe and still has an effect on her to this day. In spite of this many graduates became teachers Two graduates have passed away both of breast cancer Margaret Hodgson and Hazel Flint we all remember them with great affection and hope they were looking down on us and with us in spirit.
