2: Our flight was overbooked by 40 people | We got bumped! | {Philadelphia International Airport

3: "Faith is not believing God can, it's knowing He will." | 24 hours later, We were on our way! Lufthansa booked us on the next flight leaving 4-14-12 at 5:40pm.

4: Frankfurt, Germany | Sleepy, waiting to board our flight to Erbil, Kurdistan, Iraq

5: Welcome to Erbil

6: "Hotel Sipan 1" Our home away from home... We stayed in rm 121 free wifi, mini fridge, and a very firm bed! | Our hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel mascot was a rooster and could be seen throughout the hotel decor.

11: We traveled to the Family Mall, where we experienced the true meaning of "Mall Security" | hmmm...do they look suspicious?

12: After the mall, we stopped for a bite to eat...Shish-kabob anyone? Oh yeah, and the lights went out!

13: After dinner comes dessert...right? | I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!

16: Our Team 3 Family MD's 1 General Surgeon 1 Orthopedic Surgeon 1 PA 1 Pharmacist 2 Registered Nurses 1 Surgical Tech 1 Physical Therapist | Each day, the doctors saw hundreds of patients. We completed 5 needed surgeries and prayed with many who we could not help.

18: Physical Therapy | With the help of his loyal translators, Elvis and Dalel , Scott was able to care for many Kurdish soldiers and their families.

19: Lunch Time | Mmmm...Delicious Chai | Lunch was always soup, meat, rice, bread, fresh vegetables and watermelon for dessert. | Enjoying every minute!

21: Our trusted Korean Mini Autoclave Unit | Looking for supplies became a challenging new adventure!

22: The signs were in three different languages...KoreanEnglish, and Arabic. | Before we could schedule surgery, the O.R. needed to be cleaned and stocked.

26: Isn't that the biggest pre-patellar bursa you ever saw? | Hey! Isn't the Anesthesiologist supposed to be in the room when the patient is intubated? | Our adorable O.R. PCA Thampr... (he pronounces it like summer)

27: Having fun together. Learning how to spell our names in Kurdish...

30: We enjoyed a very special evening at Tim and Tonya Mumma's home. | The Mumma's served Tim's special pasta with delicious bread from a local bakery. | We were joined by Don Eberly and a local Kurdish Pastor. A night we will never forget.
