Women in the 1920s were intresting. New fashions came out and everyone went for it. Women went or the flappers and the beaded dresses, and went to the barber shop to get a bobs. It was a type of hair cut that bobed about where the ears are. And if you were a women you had the style. The neat thing was that when you would buy something you didnt have to pay all at once. You could pay it back later. Most people did that.

Men also had their style. Men would wear those long coats, with hats, and you know, smoke a cigar or somthin. Men worked for businesses. Some had that toughest job out there. The dangerous job.

This guy right here you wanna watch out for. His name is Al Copone. He was the master of his business. His group would try to sell achol when there was a ban on it. He killed alot of people that got in his way.

There was a ban on achol and lots of people went crazy. Everyone had to have there achol, and thats how Al copone got started. People would buy from him illegaly.

Everyone invested. People buying stock left to right. Most people bought on margin. That's where this madness begins.

Then something happened. All the sudden the stock market crashed! I did hear that some people stopped buying stock because everyone were afraid that something would happen.

Everyone rushed to the banks and tried to get there money back. But no use. The banks were closed. "Out of business" it said on the doors. I couldn't belive it.

This man here, well his name is Franklin Delano Roosevelt. He was the man of our time. Everyone wanted to vote for him. He created the three R's. Reform, Reovery, and Relief. Everyone thought that he could change what Hoover had started.

People ended up laying on park benches doing nothing. They had no job, no home, no car, no nothing, so they laid on the bench all day maybe waiting for somthing to happen.

Everthing was just awful. People lost homes, cars, businesses, everything. Some even killed themselfs because they couldnt support there family. But some didnt give up. People were selling apples on the street for 5 cents each.

People went to places that gave you food for free. People even stood on bread lines. They say, if you stood in line for soup, you rather be at the end of the line, because then you get all the good stuff at the bottom on the pot, the chicken or the veggies.

During this time, which was called the Great Depression, none had any place to live. Well people had to have shelter. So thats what people did. People build little towns, that were made up of tents for home. They called it Hoovervilles. The reason for this name was before Franklin D. Roosevelt, Hoover caused some of this insanady. No one liked him. Everyone was for Roosevelt.
