FC: MY OWN FAITH WALK | Raphaella Edjawan 1A | The Beginning of a Never-ending Love Story | Faith 2.0 – Making Sense of our Faith in the Digital World

Soon,, I was baptized | Soon, I was baptized in Mandurriao,Iloilo. | Even before I was baptized, my parents and brother already tried teaching me how to do the sign of the cross.

God has always been a stranger to me. Yes, I Prayed, but it was an awkward prayer because I didn't know what he's like. God was distant. | So near yet so far

For our first communion, I was the one who read the first reading. With all my practicing, I memorized it, and until now I still do. This made me feel closer to God. It's like we can relate to each other now.

As I began having a mind of my own, I started questioning some things about God. I became a bit lost in life.

trial | When I was in grade 6 my teacher caught me cheating, but he didn't give me a behavioral report. At first, I was denying not only to everyone, but also to myself. I really felt guilty to the point I couldn't sleep at night. I was depressed, and the only person I could talk to was God. I would pray to him every time I wasn't doing anything. Whenever I would talk to God I would feel happy, safe and protected. Few months later I finally accepted my fault and tried to change. After that trial I began having daily "talks" with God. | Some people would think this experience is nothing compared to theirs, but it isn't because until now I am in sort of a trauma from that.

In grade 7, we had retreat where in I cried so hard when we read a "letter from God". | I reflected a lot of things, and from that grew more as a Christian

A very important event in my life that I keep replaying in my mind over and over again is the time I found out that I was a 3rd honor. Getting rewarded for something you worked hard for is the best thing. I cried so many times, but I thanked God even more. I was truly grateful to God because I know that I couldn't have gotten that honor with out his help, guidance and confidence in me. | Receiving the award was wonderful, but the getting there was greater.

Influences from Atheists | In first year, I joined the Debate club, and most of the people there are either atheists or agnostic. My faith is being tested. by the people around me. Until now I am still fighting in this battle.

trial | Last July, my mom was diagnosed with cancer. It felt like the whole world collapsed because without her the whole household would be falling apart. I needed God at that time, and he was there. | luckily we made it through, and my mom is getting better. God never left our side; he was always there for all of us when we needed him.

God has always been with me. He is with me in everything I do. I can't avoid temptations, but I know God will be there to bring me back to the right path. This is not the end of my journey with God because I will forever be traveling with his light under his arms.
