FC: MEMOIRS OF AFT'S FORMER PASTOR | LIFE AND REFLECTIONS OF AZ JONES SR.
In the beginning God Created Bishop…
Retiring Pastor AZ Jones Sr. | AZ Jones Sr. is the founder and former pastor of Apostolic Faith Temple church. Before retiring this year (January 2010), he pastored AFT for the past 36 years. During his earlier years, he attended Bethel Temple church in Little Rock, Arkansas under the direction of the late Bishop Frank Henry Branscumb where he was baptized in Jesus name and filled with the holy ghost. During this time he met and married his wife Susanna Block. Pastor Jones accepted his call to preach the Gospel in 1962. Two years, later he moved to St. Paul, Minnesota with his wife and two children AZ Jr. and Jacqueline (at that time).
Besides being called to pastor at an early age, he was elevated to District Elder in 1982. He was ordained Suffragan Bishop presiding over the Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Dakota Ordination Committee in 2000. Through his ministry, thousands of people were healed and delivered. Some were healed from life threatening diseases such as cancer and AIDS; the dead were raised; demons were casted out; people received financial miracles; promotions on jobs; and debts were canceled.

The vision of Apostolic Faith Temple (AFT) came to fruition in April of 1974 under the leadership of Elder AZ Jones (Sr.). Pastor Jones started the work in the family room of his home at 1112 Cumberland in St. Paul, Minnesota. The newly formed congregation consisted of 2 adults and 5 children. The congregation | grew rapidly and by August of 1974 the membership had grown to 35 members. In September of that same year the Lord open the door for Pastor Jones to purchase the old Goodrich Presbyterian church (seating capacity for 150
people) located at 305 Goodrich Avenue in St. Paul, Minnesota. The neighborhood was predominately White and was not very welcoming to a church with predominately Black congregation. Despite the trials and tribulations encountered (inclusive of break-ins, vandalism, and racially motivated taunts) Pastor Jones remained steadfast in the work (teaching, preaching, and praying for the sick) that God had called him to do. After pastoring thirty years, Elder Jones was elevated to Suffragan Bishop with membership of 300 (an active membership of 200), and AFT is still around and growing. Over the years several hundred individuals have been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus, and many have received the gift of the Holy Ghost (Spirit). Lives have been changed by the transforming power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Minds and bodies have been healed, cycles
