S: The Dunn Family Goes to Clayton

BC: "Don't cry because it's over, Smile because it happened." - Dr Seuss | We had such a good time living with Grandma and Granpa! We are so thankful they let us stay at their house. Thank you, Grandma and Grandpa! We love you!

FC: The Dunn Family Goes to Clayton

We were so thankful when our condo sold, but needed a place to live. Luckily, Macie and Lucy have generous grandparents who invited us in. We spent about 3 weeks in Clayton, from July 5-28 during the summer of 2011, and had so much fun there! Thank you so much!

Grandma and Mommy drove to Beavercreek several times during our stay in Clayton. Once was to look at a jogging stroller, but it turned out to be not very good. Then we went back to meet someone who was selling this stroller. Mommy bought it and cleaned it up. It works great! We loved going for walks through the park and up to McDonalds and Kmart. Mommy had to buy some things at Kmart, and between Mommy and Grandma, they had just enough money- down to the penny!

While we were in Beavercreek checking out the strollers, Mommy and Grandma stopped to do a little shopping. We got Macie three new sets of pajamas. She was growing so fast and the 3 month jammies were getting too small. She needed some 6 month jammies. Macie loved wearing her "Jammies at Grammies!"

Unfortunately, Mommy would have to go back to Beavercreek two more times during her stay. Poor Lucy had a rough visit! First she had trouble with her bottom and had to go for a tune-up and bath at the Clayton Aminal Hospital. Grandpa had to take the couch cusions to the dry cleaners! Then she ate about 8 pieces of Mommy's gum! We learned that gum was deadly to dogs, so we drove her to the vet in Beavercreek where they put her on an IV all day. We were able to bring her home that night, but still had the catheter in her leg. She was not very happy about that and limped around like her leg was broken. The next day, she went back to the vet for more fluids, and was released to us that night. She never even seemed to be affected by the gum, but we are glad she is OK! Mommy had been to Beavercreek more in these 3 weeks than in the last 10 years!

While we were in Clayton, Macie turned 4 months old. We had her standard monthly photoshoot, but this time it was different. We didn't have the letters to spell out "4 Months" because they were packed away in storage.

Grandma and Mommy sure had fun taking her picture anyway!

Macie started holding her head up (with a little help). She still didn't like Tummy TIme much, and cried or sucked on her fingers most of the time.

Macie loved sitting on the porch with Grandma. Too bad it was so "stinky" hot most of the time. Some days it was over 100 degrees! That's too hot for a baby!

Lucy was so excited every morning when Grandpa would wake up and let her out of her room. But she was even more excited when he would shower! She would wait outside his door for him to come out. Sometimes she just couldn't wait and would scratch at the bedroom door. Once Grandpa was showered, they took a ride to the donut shop. Since they didn't have a drive thru like Tim Hortons, Grandpa would buy Lucy her own donut! He would even bring home apple fritters for Grandma, Mommy, and Daddy. Then she would wait at the top of the stairs for Mommy and Daddy to wake up.

Grandma had a lot of fun playing with Macie. She loved taking pictures of her! Grandma also spent a lot of time cooking delicious dinners and trying out new recipes for us. We really appreciated all her hard work! It made it hard for us to leave!

Grandpa had a lot of fun with Macie, too! At first, he talked in a low, scary voice that Macie didn't like. She would stick out her lip and start to cry. But then Grandpa was more friendly and would make Macie smile at him every morning. Granpa had some other adventures as well. See how he is looking out the window? That's because he sees some caterpillars in his trees. He had to throw a rope over a tall branch and Daddy had to pull the branch down while Grandpa stood on a tall ladder and sprayed them.

One weekend while we were there, Natalie and Sarah came to visit while Jenny and John went to Columbus. It was a busy weekend! They both LOVED Macie! We all went to the arcade and Natalie won that watch! We also experimented with different hairstyles and curled or braided our hair. Natalie also spent a lot of time on the computer sending emails to her mommy.

Mommy spent a lot of the time at Grandma and Grandpa's house working on these chairs. These were old, ugly chairs from Grandma Veda's house. Grandpa helped her sand and paint them. She had to paint them in the yard because he didn't want his basement to have white paint everywhere (and he didn't really like the white grass either!)

Finally, we were ready to move into our house. Lucy stayed a couple extra days to avoid the movers. She was ready to come back, and wouldn't even leave the car once her bed was in there!

This is what the living room looked like for three straight weeks! Grandma and Grandpa probably got tired of stepping over all our stuff, but they never said anything if they did! We also had to keep a green towel on the couch because of Lucy's previously mentioned problem!
