1: On August 6th, the USA dropped the 1st atomic bomb every on a city;Hiroshima, on August 9th, they dropped the 2nd and last ever atomic bomb (to date) on a city; Nagasaki. | Hiroshima | Nagasaki | 1945

2: 1945 | Japan surrenders and is placed under international control of the Allied Forces under the command of U.S. General Douglas MacArthur | Emperor Hirohito signs the Declaration of Surrender

3: 1947 | Japan becomes a Constitutional Monarchy. Political, economic, and social reforms are introduced. Voting is allowed for both men and women. | The Diet - The Japanese Legislature

4: 1952 | The United States ends it occupation of Japan, but the United States army remaines as the protector of Japan.

5: 1957 | Japan formally joins the United Nations | Japan's Flag is raised in front of the U.N.

6: 1955 - 1961 | Through financial aid and a desire to make Japan strong economically, the Japanese people, through hard work, bring Japan prosperity

7: Today | Japan is one of the most economically powerful countries in the world.
