 TOTALY LOST! By: Gunner Richardson
Suzie is a beautiful girl that is smart, creative and full of life. She had every opportunity to succeed when she finished high school. Making good choices doesn’t come easy when you aren’t surrounded by good friends. You can have a wonderful home life filled with love and super parents, but that doesn’t help sometimes.
After high school, Suzie went away to college, but after the first semester, she came home. She missed her parents and childhood friends. After convincing her parents to let her move into an apartment, Suzie began a new life. Finding that some of her close friends from high school were away at college, Suzie was search of fun times, friendships and excitement of no parents around. She would party and drink too much that she couldn’t make it to class at a local junior college. At the end of the semester, she had already wrecked a car and flunked out of school.
Suzie really didn't think another wrecked car and bad grades was bad. She once again made empty promises to her to her parents. This time, she thought if she took a semester off from school, that would help her get her life back on track. Suzie got a job to fill her time, but she would party at night and wasn't able to get up and go to work and finally lost her job, but she didn't think that was fair treatment. Fortunately she was able to find another job, but it wasn't long until there was no paycheck. When Suzie's life wasn't going just right, she would drink and party more and more.
When Suzie finally hit rock bottom and she knew she truly needed help, she agreed to go to a rehabilitations center. She wanted to start her life over and use the tools they give you. It wasn’t easy to start with, but each day was better than the day before. Suzie had to go by the rules the center had and the scheduling of classes and random drug testing. After several weeks, she was released, but it wasn’t long until she found the wrong crowds again.
With the encouragement of her parents and true friends, she agreed to return to the center. She knew she had to take advantage of the tools and help she could gain by staying there before her personal support group gave up on her. Suzie knew that this might be her last chance to turn her life around for good. She knew she had to make better choices in her daily life.
Now that Suzie was out of the facility, she moved into a new condo that was away from temptations. Living close to bars and friends that like to party was definitely not the answer to keeping her life on track. She knew she had continued support from her parents, so certainly she didn’t want to disappoint them again.
Next Suzie knew she had to participate in out-patient meetings, as well as Alcoholics Anonymous. In order to support herself, she knew she needed a job. Luckily, she found one that help her self-confidence. She was always anxious to get to work and do a great job.
Each day she strives to keep her life in balance. Suzie is working hard to make better choices in friends and her lifestyle. She even has a boyfriend now that truly supports her in staying sober and on track. Suzie’s life has a purpose now that she feels like a new person.
