8: Growing Up | We now get excited about things like shiny new cooking implements. One night, we found $150 in unused Sears gift cards from our wedding. We went shopping to see what we would find, and came home with these beautiful pots and pans.
9: Our First House! After putting an offer in on a house near the mountain brow and losing that one, we bought this house. 325 Cranbrook Dr. We were originally planning on moving in upstairs right away, but decided to rent it out for a couple years. | h o m e | ow n e r s

12: Saying Goodbye to Mapleside | Once we bought our house, we bequeathed our apartment to Dan and Mira, who were being evicted from theirs. We had a few days of overlap, so moving was busy... | Laura VanDooren helped me pack up all the left overs...

14: spring | Girls Night at the RBG
15: At the beginning of Lilac season, Amanda, Kenny, Samantha, Mira, and I snuck into the Royal Botanical Gardens to admire the Lilacs. It took Samantha and I a long time, but we finally found lilacs that smelled like the ones in Eastern Ontario. | stop & smell the
16: Coopertown | After moving out of Mapleside, we took up residence for 3 weeks in the Brouwer basement. We then had the pleasure of house-sitting for the Coopers right across the road from the waterfront. What a beautiful place to live in the early summer! We watched thunderstorms roll across the water almost every night.

19: For my 25th birthday, Brian drove me to Montreal to buy a dog. Her name was Fixie - until we left the driveway of her old house. From then on, she was Isabelle.

25: Moving In | We took possession of our new house on July 15th. Soon after, Marty and Dan came over to help unload our Pod (which had been storing everything that we didn't take with us to Coopertown) into the upstairs of the house. We slept upstairs on the floor, surrounded by boxes, until the downstairs was ready.

28: We were fortunate to have many friends help with the transformation.
29: We used so much primer for the wainscotting that I was deliriously happy when we started painting colour.
30: While we planned on ripping out the old fireplace, we wanted to make it stand out as little as possible, so it was painted along with the rest.
31: We rented a carpet cleaner for a 4-hour period right before the store closed - so we got it all night. I stayed up until 4am cleaning the carpets while Brian slept peacefully upstairs.
32: Finally - after months of living out of boxes, we got to move into our apartment.
33: After a few months of peace, the old mantle came out. Daniel graciously volunteered his muscles. | Nick helped Brian design & build a brilliant mantle for our fireplace.
34: It all comes together - what a wonderful room room we have!
35: Our Bedroom: Marty was good enough to prime the entire room - with an oil-based primer - with the door closed. We didn't charge him for the high that he got.

39: Bidding farewell to the Sams | At the end of the summer, Samuel and Samantha left Hamilton for an adventure in St John's Newfoundland.

41: Izzy's 4th Birthday Marty was the only one who cared enough to spoil Izzy on her birthday. He bought her a squirrel, who promptly became known as mouse.
42: out on the water | Cousin Wil and Tara took the van Oords and us out on the water from The Funny Farm to Long Point for a very relaxing afternoon.
44: Canada's Wonderland | Shanna & Jared flew to Ontario for Thanksgiving weekend. We kicked off their vacation with a trip to Canada's Wonderland. | Brian and Shanna convinced me to go on the Xtreme Sky Flyer. It was the scariest thing I've ever done in my life. Never again. People could hear my screams across the park.

47: Thanksgiving Day in 2008 was hotter than many of our summer days - while we were driving back to Hamilton at almost 7pm, it was still 20 degrees! We had a great weekend at Mom's house, with Shanna, Jared, Jason & Sadie all home! Izzy and Sadie did not get along well.

56: On Friday, December 19th, Hamilton was hit with a huge snowstorm. | It just happened to be the day of the Annual Christmas Party. | Of course, everyone still came anyways, and the boys helped many a stranger dig their car out of the snow banks. | Brian & Sam help a stranger out.
