S: RHS Marching Band - 2011 Season - Niagara Falls
FC: 'Niagara Falls' | 2011 | Marching Band | Roosevelt High School
1: Kylea M. Larsen Color Guard 11th Grade Roosevelt High School Marching Band 2011 Season 'Niagara Falls'
2: It all started as you sat in the stands with Monie during the 2010 marching band season. You wanted to be in Color Guard and on the field instead of sitting in the stands.! Spring came. You tried out for the team - and made it!! Your first year in Color Guard certainly was challenging. Before the season started the instructor left, which caused a lot of frustration with the section leaders and guard members. Band camp days were long and hard work. There were many 6:30 am, after school, and evening practices. The work and the drill kept changing or wasn't written until the last minute. You gave yourself a black eye during practice! During a performance the barrel ran into you and bruised your back! And, you performed on some very cold evenings. Through all that - the 2011 RHS Marching Band performance of 'Niagara Falls' was awesome and the Color Guard played a very important part in its success. At the start of the show, you were front and center. At the end of the show you donned a rain suit and helped upright the barrel that tumbled down the Falls. What a great time you had at the competitions - the bus rides, staying in hotels, watching other bands perform. We are so proud of you, your dedication to Color Guard, and how well you performed. It was fun watching your skills and confidence improve throughout the season And it was fun taking thousands of pictures!. Love you - Monie and Poppie | Color Guard

40: You know you are in Guard when . . . . You walk in step to all music you hear! You have a flag callus on your right palm under your small finger! You can smile genuinely on command! You find yourself telling your friends to run for chewing gum! Every song becomes a possible flag routine! You know the perfect spot for a toss in your favorite songs! You know that "one more time" never means one more time! You can do your hair and make-up and change into your uniform anywhere! You count all music to beats of 6 or 8! You know how to manage 9 girls and 1 bathroom! You know what jell-o arms and legs feel like! Having your show finished the day before your first performance is considered lucky! There's no such thing as a summer vacation! The smell of sunscreen makes you think of band camp! You've never worked so hard for a chunk of wood with some metal on it (a trophy)! When pit stains are cool! You know what's significant about June 14th (if not look at your calendar)! You have had more pictures taken of you than any of your friends! You have been hit in the head with your flag more times than you can think about! You walk in step with your guard friends! Color Guard is practically all you talk about! Stadium nachos and hot dogs are a delicacy! You have 4 tan lines - tee shirt, gloves, shorts, and socks! The blisters on your blisters don't hurt anymore! Guard tape fixes everything! Stretches are your favorite part of the day! Changing in front of guys doesn't phase you anymore! When you have practice 5 days a week and enjoy every second! You have become so accustomed to waking up at 5 am that you do it when you don't have to! (Saturdays, Sundays, days with no school or marching practice.) If you have gotten a black eye from doing a toss! If you catch yourself doing air flag while walking down the hallway or while you are sleeping! When you are doing a horizontal toss, you know that it won't make it too far, and it smacks you in the face! The phrase water break has a whole new meaning! Your family knows your entire show, inside and out!
