S: Nolan: September 2009-September 2010
FC: Nolan 2 years old
We celebrated your 2nd birthday at Chuck E Cheese with Mommy, Daddy and Madelyn.
Life with 2 kids has complicated some things, like doctor appointments. You loved checking out the equipment, climbing under cabinets and getting involved with Madelyn too!
You are always finding ways to be entertained but sometimes it leads to timeouts.
 Fall is here!
Cooking is one of your favorite activities - especially making treats.!
 Trip to Leeds' Farm
 Trick or Treat
Challenge: Getting a picture of all 4 of us smiling.
Mimi and Pa watched you and Madelyn while Mommy and Daddy were in Phoenix for Ben Gammie's wedding.
 Creative cookie decorating!
Mommy was in charge of the Children's Christmas Party at church so Daddy helped you play games and complete a couple of neat crafts. - reindeer antlers and a beaded candy cane. When Santa Claus arrived you didn't mind him from a distance but you didn't want to sit on his lap.
 All Bundled Up!
You loved to pull anybody on any toy so pulling Madelyn on a sled is right up your alley. You also enjoyed Daddy pulling you "fast" down the snowy street.
 Happy Holidays
The holiday festivities began on Christmas Eve with the extended Gibboney family party. We had a great time catching up with family, eating great food, and watching Nolan and Madelyn open gifts. Throughout all of the Christmas events Madelyn would grab the present and rip the paper to put straight into her mouth and you enjoyed opening all the presents (including those that did NOT belong to you) and seeing the great gifts inside. The next morning, the 4 of us went to Christmas mass and then opened our gifts to each other. Then the Roscoe family came over and we had a great time and our family got SPOILED by everyone. We were fortunate enough to have Great Grandma with us, The day and night was filled with laughter! Early the next morning we headed to the Broerman family Christmas. We had a great meal made by Grandma Broerman and then the presents began. The night ended with skits of "As Seen on TV" items. The next day we hung out, played games and decorated holiday goodies. It was a great week of events. Thank you to everyone for making this Christmas memorable, and thank you for your generosity.

Every year Barth and Erin host the Roscoes. We enjoy the great food and even better company. This year Chase was the host of a trivia game and he loved helping you play with all of his former toys | FAMILY
You were sleeping in your big boy bed consistently since winter break. Once you got over the shock of Daddy taking down the crib, you realized that it was time. You continued to be a great sleeper, but you wake-up a little more often than before. About once every two weeks you found your way into our bed either in the middle of the night around 1:30am or when Mommy gets out of bed around 6:00am. One morning I went walking and when I came back you were all cozy with Daddy in our bed. One morning, I heard you squeal around 1:30am, but you never came in our room. You must have just opened your door, so I was able to get a picture early that morning before you woke-up. You seem to love your big boy bed in your big boy room.
 BIG BOY BED
A DAY OF FUN WITH COUSINS AT TOTTER'S OTTERVILLE.
This weekend we went to Ryan, Jenna and Ava's house. We enjoyed a wonderful meal prepared by Julia Childs, aka Aunt Jenna. Then we celebrated Grandpa's and Ava's birthday with cake and ice cream. We enjoyed exchanging valentines with cousins. Later that night we watched the Winter Olympics and played cards.
 Potty Training
Day 2, 3, and 4 Potty Training Nolan's potty training has continued. He was unsuccessful most of the day on Sunday, but that night after an accident I took off his underwear and he went bare butt. From that point forward he would just go to the potty when he had to pee and would tell us afterward. He had 3 successes, so we were hopeful things were clicking and that having Ms. Heidi continue our efforts was a more reasonable request. Monday: Nolan woke up and asked me for his "Elmo", so Daddy put him in underwear and was off to Ms. Heidi's house. Nolan had 5 successes and NO accidents. Halleluja!!! However, no #2 all day or all night. Tuesday: Nolan had another successful day with Heidi, but did have one accident in which he was playing with trains and started peeing. He quickly ran upstairs and finished his business in the potty. He did have one big accident, which was two days worth of #2. He had an accident at home tonight, but overall he is getting it done. | Potty Training Day 1 (blog entry: week of February 28th) Nolan turns 2 1/2 this week, so we thought that marked a time in which we should start potty training. When he woke-up I gave him the option of wearing a diaper or a pair of big boy underwear. He chose underwear, so from that point forward Chris and I committed to putting Nolan on the potty every 15 minutes. It was about 2 minutes before the next 15 minute mark when Nolan had his first accident. We continued throughout the day, Nolan had a total of 4 accidents and 3 successes. We were very pleased with the results. When he has a successful potty experience he is rewarded with "two treats", which is candy corn. I bought them at Halloween time since he loved them so much and not having them for a few months got him very motivated. Nolan is still on the fence about committing to being potty trained, trying to bring us diapers, but we are trying to stay consistent.

EASTER | happy | St. John Neumann Easter Party | You loved hunting for eggs, but you were scared of the Easter Bunny and would not sit on his lap.
 St. John Neumann Egg Hunt
Easter morning you and Madelyn woke up to your baskets filled with candy, and some surprises sitting nearby. After church we hosted the Roscoe family for lunch and an egg hunt. Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Brian are always good sports by hunting eggs with you! Both of you kids got spoiled with baskets filled with goodies.
We celebrated Braxton's 2nd birthday and Easter with the Broermans. We had a great time, but we missed our other cousins. Mimi &c Grandpa gave us really cool Easter toys - we raced the bunnies that rode tricycles. Then we had an egg hunt for the kids, and then the competitive adult egg hunt.

 Great Grandma Gibboney
Madelyn's birthday theme was Garden Fairies so she wore a tutu that Mommy made. She opened up her presents with some help from her big brother! Then we went outside and watched her tentatively use her hands to eat her cake. Again you were right there to help. The day ended with planting flowers.

Date Night Rotation | A group of us "Honda Wives" decided to start a date night where one couple watched all of the kids, while the other parents could have a date night. The typical meal was pizza, fruit and dessert! You and Madelyn really enjoyed getting together with the other kids.
