S: 2011 Summer Vacation

FC: California- Here We Come June 2011

1: After hours of driving, and trashing our wind shredded car-top carrier, we were greeted by Uncle Russell and Aunt Donna who treated us to a gourmet dinner. June 2011

2: Aunt Donna took us on a fun treasure hunt through Old Sacramento.

3: Summer of 2011 we took a road trip to California, mostly to meet up with mom's family to celebrate G & G Hays' 60th Wedding Anniversary, in Fall River Mills. We also decided to retrace our honeymoon steps - Sacramento, San Francisco, the Redwoods & then Fall River.

4: Pit Stop | Jelly Belly Factory is always a good place for a Pit Stop, with tour and samples to boot. We also made a stop for some Olive Oil sampling.

5: John Wayne and many other famous people are depicted with jelly bellies

6: Stopping in Sacramento gave Dad & the girls an opportunity to perform baptisms in the Sacramento Temple

7: While re-tracing our Honeymoon trip of course we stopped at the Oakland Temple, which not only holds honeymoon memories, but was mom's Temple growing up. | "Wherefore, stand ye in holy places, and be not moved, until the day of the Lord come; for behold, it cometh quickly"

8: Classic photo of the Golden Gate Bridge in fog | Hannah, Josh, Erin & Kim | We took a 2 hr. double decker bus tour of the city of San Francisco, with Bodin's fresh French Bread in hand. Pictured are some of the sites -the 3 Sisters, restaurant sign (missing Andy), ship in harbor, trolley & gorgeous flower.

11: Seals, sampling Ghiradelli's & Lombard St. | Hanging out at the Wharf

12: Erin & Josh inside of a fallen tree | The Redwoods - look up & up & up | Erin was so excited to drive through the tree | We also stopped to visit with dad's Uncle Dale & Aunt Edith in Fortuna

13: There aren't too many places in the world where you can actually drive through a tree. These trees are enormous.! | The Redwoods | Mom, Josh, Hannah & Erin at the wheel

15: There's nothing like dipping your toes into a nice cool ocean - no matter how cold it is - right kids??

16: "Families are like fudge ... mostly sweet with a few nuts." | SURPRISE!! | Mom & dad had no idea their children were in cahoots. The Plan- Mark & Janet would fly them to Calif., drive them to Fall River where the rest of us would be waiting in their Motel room, ready to SURPRISE them for their 60th Anniversary.

21: Memorable Places | Sledding at the Crum Ranch-watch out for the creek | Fall River Hotel - Uncle Scott worked as a waiter here. | *Swimming at the Fall River-much improved-we always had to watch for broken glass. *McArthur Grange Hall where we met for church for a time.

23: LIVE WELL LAUGH OFTEN LOVE MUCH | Schneider's Barn

24: We had a great time visiting & laughing with our old neighbors.

25: Wayne, Roger, Asa & Helen Schneider The Shneider's have 4 boys that are part of many of our memories of growing up in Pittville. | "The friends we meet on the path of life make the trip worth while."

26: *Pittville Store *Hospital *Train @ Fairgrounds *Fall River Theatre

27: Mayers Mem. Hosp. was where Scott & Brooke were born, tonsils were removed & owies were healed. The theater was home to the Fall River Branch for awhile.

28: * Fall River High School *Swallow Cliffs in Fall River

29: All 6 children graduated from Fall River High School. Four of them served as Student Body President. They also had many opportunities to participate in drama, football, basketball, debate, Songleader, cheerleader, the best cheerleaders being Mom & Dad - Thanks!

30: Whoo. . . worked here?

31: Dad taught at Fall River Elementary School for over 25 years & influenced the lives of many children, including his own. Brooke played softball & the kids raised and sold pigs and sheep at our county fairgrounds.

32: Life brings simple pleasures to us every day. It is up to us to make them wonderful memories. ~Cathy Allen

33: Anniversary dinner at Spinner Fall Lodge (we kept the owner & waitresses happy with ghiradelli chocolate)

34: A Must!! Lunch at the Fall River Frosty

35: * Burney Branch * Glenburn Church * Burney Bowling Alley

36: Donna's Family

37: Burney Falls | Donna & Brooke's family couldn't help but stop and view the Beautiful Falls before heading to Fall River. Many family memories here. | Brooke's Family

38: Watch Out Uncle Russ, Kim and Hannah are driving!

39: MAKING MEMORIES | After viewing the falls we rented a pontoon boat to enjoy Lake Britton | Never fear Emma, Grandma has you! Oh, it's your dad's driving that's scary.

40: After attending the Fall River Ward we held an anniversary lunch in the Cultural Hall, complete with Wedding Cake.

42: HAPPY 60 Fun-Filled Years

43: It doesn't matter where you go in life, what you do ..... it's who you have beside you. | (I just wish we had photos of Mom kissing all her sons & son-in-laws with cake on her face.)
