1: Did you know that Clara Barton wrote several books, or that she became a teacher at age 18?

2: This book is dedicated to my Dad. | Note: I love you, and thank you soooo much for always encouraging me to do my best!

3: Chapters: | -Childhood -Helping out in the war -Founding the Red Cross

4: Childhood | Clara Barton had an amazing childhood. Clara Barton was born on December 25th 1821 (and died on April 12th 1912), this was also Christmas. She grew up in a small farmhouse in North Oxford, Massachusetts with two brothers, two sisters and her mother and father (Koestler, 6).

5: When Clara Barton was about 12 years old, her brother, David fell from the roof of the barn and was hurt badly. He always had headaches and fevers. Within 2 years of never leaving his bedside, young Clara BArton amazingly cured her brother (Koestler, 8). Clara Barto truly was amazing!

6: Helping In The War. | When Clara Barton herd that the soldiers in war were very low on supplies, she franticly started to gather supplies for them. When she reached the campus, she delivered all of the supplies and the doctors called her an angle (Lassieur, 12-15)

7: Thank You Clara Barton. | Clara was a huge help, without her most of the soldiers would have died. Clara stayed calm in some of the toughest situations, when the soldier that she was working on died in her arms, and when the room that she was nursing in was under attack (Lassieur, 16-17). Clara Barton was the angle of the battle field.

8: Founding The Red Cross. | In 1869 Clara traveled to Europe, and when she was there she learned about the Red Cross. When she returned home, she fought to bring the Red Cross to the US (Koestler, 22-23, 28).

9: In 1904, people started to question the way that Clara Barton ran the organization. After much struggling Clara Barton finally regained the organization, and was back on track (Lassieur, 26). Clara Barton had made a great accomplishment, by bringing the Red Cross to the US!
