90: Dear Dad, Thank you for EVERYTHING! When I was little, I considered myself your “little buddy”. I think I was as close as you got to a son. I remember always wanting to be with you. I loved (and still do) watching you build things. I have learned a lot from watching and helping you with various projects. I also remember all the weekend trips with you to Canoe where you would fix sewing machines and build those little tables that went beside each machine. I watched in awe as you took a few pieces of wood, some nails and a hammer and within minutes turned it into a table. I was probably one of few 8-year-olds that knew what Shellac was. You are truly an amazing man and you are my HERO. I admire your strength and your work ethic. You are the hardest working person I know. You are never afraid to try new things and most of the time, are successful. I am very grateful for all the times you have dropped whatever you were doing to come and help me out with whatever I needed. You have been “my rock” lots of times throughout my life. You have always been there for me, and I honestly can't remember you ever saying you wouldn't at least try to help me when I needed it. You took me to the doctor when I was sixteen and thought I was pregnant (and I was). You gave me a place to live when my first marriage didn't work out. A few years back when I was going through a really rough time, you were always there when I just couldn't take one more phone call or meeting. To this day, if I need your help with anything, you still do whatever you can. Thanks for everything Dad! I admire and love you so much! I hope that I have made you proud and that you know what a huge part of my life you are and have always been! Love Always, Edith

108: Dear Dad..Looking back on my life, I have so many great memories with you. I want to say "Thank You" for all that you have done for me throughout the years. I remember all of my dentists' visits and you were always there with me. You took me to all of my doctor visits when I was young, but I think the best memory I have of you is the time that you came to Cheerleading Camp to pick me up in the Poconos and stayed and watched me compete. That meant so much to me to have you there. I thank you for the heritage that you gave to us. How many people can say that their grandparents lived in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and were Tobacco farmers. What a great gift, I was always so proud of our family. I remember when you used to race cars, and the night that you crashed, I fell off of the top seat of the grand stand. (I never knew how much I hurt my back until I got older....ouch)..ha ha....and I woke up in Pit Row in the back of the station wagon...I"m so proud of all of your accomplishments Mr. Mayor. You have made so many positive contributions to so many people. I love you so much. Your youngest daughter, Lisa

167: What Makes A Dad A Dad is a person who is loving and kind, And often he knows what you have on your mind. He's someone who listens, suggests, and defends. A dad can be one of your very best friends! He's proud of your triumphs, but when things go wrong, A dad can be patient and helpful and strong. In all that you do, a dad's love plays a part. There's always a place for him deep in your heart. And each year that passes, you're even more glad, More grateful and proud just to call him your dad! Thank you, Dad... for listening and caring, for giving and sharing, but, especially, for just being you! ~Author Unknown~
