5: Taking some time out to visit the beach is always a must during Steve's off-season time. The weather is usually most cooperative at Avila Beach and a lot less crowded during the winter too! | 4 | hugs
7: A Dad... is someone who teaches you how to hold a gun, strategerize against your opponent, models leadership, and humbly accepts defeat whilst his boys perform the victory dance behind his back.

11: On our recent visit to La Quinta, Grandpa Gilles and Lola took us to the Living Desert., where we enjoyed a great variety of wild creatures...and the animals were fun to watch too!
12: We thought it would be fun to surprise Dad with a day at the river. The kids woke him up bright and early with breakfast in bed and gave him the Fathers Day cards they made. Then we packed up the car and drove to the river where we all went whitewater rafting. We stopped half way down the river to eat lunch and then we hiked up to a beautiful waterfall. Later in the day the kids gathered some firewood for a campfire. We all sat around listening to Dad share stories from his childhood. It was such a fun day. The kids got wet and had a blast and will remember this day with Dad forever. | they are growing up so much faster than i ever would have imagined... | beach boys

17: our very own home-grown speller made it to the county spelling bee again this year for the second time! Having successfully completed seven rounds, Christopher was awarded with another free ice-cream cone from the Dairy Queen and a medallion! We are so proud of how he bravely stood before an audience and gave his all! | anticipation
18: this morning we woke up to 12 pink flamingos roosting in our front yard. they held us ransom 'till we coughed up some green for the youth group's summer mission fund-raiser. to be honest...having them vanish as mysteriously as they appeared left us with a lonesome feeling. | tickled pink | WE'VE BEEN FLAMINGOED
20: It is better to wear out than to rust out. RICHARD CUMBERLAND | A bike ride to the park for a picnic is just what the doctor ordered to brake up the day! Joshua made up his own mind (as usual) that it was high time he learned to ride without training wheels.

28: Andy and Sarah's first day back at school. I can't believe Andy is in Kindergarten and Sarah is in First Grade this year. My little babies are growing up too fast. This is going to be a great year! | Seeing the Martins in Nevada was such a sight for sore eyes. Having had them so close to us for only 2 years has made the distance almost un-bearable. But, oh, how sweet is the time when we are together once again!

32: This year the August birthday party was in Hanford. Christie still made her awesome pinata. I made the individual theme topped cakes. And, as always, the kids all had the time of their lives!

35: A farewell trip with our friends, the Kelly's, to the Visalia's pumpkin patch, afforded the kids a harvest of sweet memories.
