S: Preston Family Holiday - Hamilton Island February 2009
FC: Hamilton Island QLD Preston Family Holiday 15 - 21 February 2009
Sunday 15 February - The Miserable Sydney day that we left behind......
Some pictures taken from our balcony of Catsey Bay and looking towards Whitsunday Island.
Looking over Catseye Bay towards Passage Peak
Looking left up the hill is the little church that is so pretty. The cheeky cocky's will steal any food left out on the balcony. We could look straight down to the hotels pool.
Every morning outside the hotel was crowded with parked buggies...... | The Reef View Hotel
The boys loved doing somersaults & back flips into the pool. We had to drag them out to feed them. | The restaurant where we had breakfast most mornings overlooked the pool.
The Bougainvillea Pool & Bar When we were here for our honeymoon, there was no fence around the Rock. But once Dad told the boys he had jumped off, they wanted to do it. Despite the sign saying no jumping off, they both had a go. | Ronan
Dinner at Toucan Tango overlooking the Dolphin pool & looking out towards Catseye Bay. The Bougainvillea Pool also looks out over Catseye Bay. We spent a lot of time in this pool, because of the Rock for the kids & the Bar for the parents.
Catseye Bay We did a lot of swimming, paddling canoes and snorkelling. Mum & Dad saw fish & stingrays just out from the beach. There were Turtles swimming around every day.
Heartbreak Hill | The Telstra Pillar | Walking to the Marina
Taking a walk around the Marina
 The Boat Garden
On the morning of 17th Feb, getting ready to go to Reefworld. After a morning shower, the sky cleared to a beautiful day.
Leaving the harbour behind....... There was a cameraman on board taking photos and video for everyone to buy. We bought a video for the footage of the boys snorkelling, and for information about the reef.
We enjoyed a lovely morning tea on the boat and the view from the top deck was spectacular. Of course the sunscreen and hats were a must.
Our First glimpse of the Reef and Reefworld.
Fantasea Reefworld - when we arrived we had a delicious lunch on the deck under the shade sail. The submarine & helicopter took off regularly with loads of people.
The lovely bodysuits we had to wear for protection from the Irukandji Jellyfish. The boys loved the water slide.
The fish were very tame and would eat pellets out of your hand.
On the return trip one of the crew had the boys enthralled with his magic tricks.
Passage Peak | Coming back the first glimpse of Hamilton Island | Looking in towards The Reef View Hotel & the Whitsunday Apartments on the left | Qualia
Returning to the Marina for ice cream that the Lorrikeets wanted. Dad got bitten trying to pat them. | Looking up towards One Tree Hill. We never did make it up there for cocktail hour.
Koala Gallery Wildlife Experience & Fauna Park
We spent a lot of time in the Main Pool. The swim up bar was always popular. The boys became addicted to a mocktail called the Fruit Tingle, made from cordial, juice & lemonade..
Frocked up for our a la carte dinner. A Gentleman took the family portrait for us.
Whitehaven Beach | We had a delicious lunch on the way out to Whitehaven Beach. When we arrived we saw the sea plane taking off. We could see turtles swimming out near the boat.
 Posing for the ship's photographer
The water was so warm. We found a hermit crab that the boys played with.
The fish were swimming right along the shore line. Everyone was feeding them bread, they were too quick to catch, but we had fun trying. We had a great game of beach cricket, and an american couple complimented us on our wonderful family and the way we enjoyed playing together.
When we got back from Whitehaven Beach we hired a buggy & drove around the island. These photos were taken from One Tree Hill.
Some Photos taken in the morning after breakfast at Toucan Tango
We went to the Safari Night BBQ. We were picked up in the Troupe Carrier & driven down to Coral Cove where we had a great time looking at the stars, watching the wildlife & enjoying a good dinner. Everyone had to make up a name for somebody else.
 Safari Night at coral cove
The aim of the game was to pick up the box using your mouth & without using your hands. You also weren't allowed to touch the ground with your hands or knees. Every round another strip was torn off the box until it was flat. Mum had a go, but Dad said he couldn't do the splits.
One last swim before heading home.
Heading Home Saturday 21 Feb 2009 We met a lovely scottish fellow at the airport. When we got on the plane, it was very steamy because of the humidity and the air conditioning.
