 Glacier National Park

If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, so I never have to live without you. A. A. Milne Winnie the Pooh.

MAKING MEMORIES | Our tent trailer trip to Glacier National Park was the highlight of our year. We had so much fun and the scenery was amazing. Of course, we had to have the first night of crying with an ear infection. It's not a vacation without a trip to an Insta Care. Riah was the culprit. We loved hiking and camping. We went in August and there was snow on the ground in some parts in the park. The kids did great in the car. The pool and paddle boats at the KOA helped get their wiggles out.

 Ellie-8 years old | Emma-10 years old | Matthew-3 yrs. | Matthew-3 years old

Whitefish, Montana KOA | Mariah- 5 years old

. | August 2010 | This was a great day to hike. It was amazing weather!

This was such an wonderful trip. I'll remember it forever and I hope the kids will too. I just wanted to highlight some of the things I wanted to remember about the trip. Glacier is known for having lots and lots of bears. We saw probably 4 or 5 Grizzlies. It was awesome. They were very big. One of the evenings around 8pm, heading back to our campground, we were driving over "Going to the Sun Highway" when I told Jason I didn't understand how people spotted the bears up on the mountains. They're so hard to see even when you know what you're looking for. Not one minute later did I see a huge Grizzly Bear walking along the hillside about 20 feet from the road. It was so amazing to see such a big bear so close. | We also saw tons of Mountain Goats and the most beautiful scenery on earth. The kids did great driving in the car for many hours a day. At one point, we had driven across the entire park and we decided we might as well drive to Canada since we were only another hour away. We got to the border and they said we couldn't go to Canada because we didn't have passports. Jason says we thought we could visit "America Jr." any time we wanted. Anyway, we turned around and had to drive a long way back to camp. To keep himself occupied, Matthew shoved his rolls in his ears. Did I mention there were a lot of bears.

 May 2010

Spring | happy | I just got my digital camera

so many | The kids love playing in the backyard. Jason has built a tire swing, sandbox, and treehouse. | Tyler over for a visit

LIVE WELL LAUGH OFTEN LOVE MUCH | We love when Tyler, Emily and Conner come

We finally got our goats. We were just coming home from a visit to a friends cabin at Bear Lake and decided we wanted to get the goats that day. We kind of do things like that (a little impulsive). We stopped in Cache Valley to see if we could find any, but had no luck. We finally spoke to someone in Tremonton as we were pulling into the driveway. We decided to go pick the goats up. | Pork n Beans

The lady who took care of the goats wasn't home, but her husband told us to pick any two we wanted. Of course,we picked the tiniest ones because they're so dang cute. We got a phone call the next morning from the owner saying we needed to bring the smallest one back. He was only 2 weeks old, and if the mother wouldn't take him back we'd have to bottle feed him just like a newborn (all night long). I was scared out of my mind, but the mother did take him back and we just picked a new one. | May 2010

Discovery Museum 2010 | We got a 6-month pass to the Children's Museum this year. We spent a lot of our time there exploring and having fun. Matthew(3) and Mariah(5) especially loved it. Matthew spent most of his time on the trucks with trailers, and Riah spent a lot of time in dress-ups and in the little store.

It was fun to ride the train down to the museum | We would sometimes make a whole day of it and have a picnic after visiting the museum. Matthew and Riah would bring their swimsuits and play in the fountains while we ate lunch. It was so much fun!

Emma's first recital at Bountiful Music- May 2010

Emma started taking piano lessons from Jeannie Basset in fall 2009. She has really caught on quickly and she loves practicing. She seems to have a special gift.

Friends are the sunshine of life.

Forever | Kylee, Emma and Anika

 Mariah's 5th Birthday May 24, 2010

For Riah's 5th birthday we had a party at home with friends and went to McDonald's with Grandma and Grandpa. This was Mariah's first friend party. It was so much fun! Some of her friends are Logan, Ethan, Brook, Eliza, and Abe. | McDonald's with Grandpa and Grandma

I was able to go on Ellie's fieldtrip with her and her best friend, Sarah. It was so much fun. | Ellie- 2nd grade | Museum of Natural History

Summer Time! | with Tyler, Emily and Connor | Emma | Connor | Ellie

 Samantha-8, Ellie-8, Jason, Katie, Mariah-5, Matthew-3, Eddie-3

Uncle Andy's favorite holiday is the 4th of July. He always buys fireworks and sets them off for us. We do this a few times throughout the summer. That's why he's not in this picture. He's busy lighting fireworks. | Happy 4th of July!

 California | Ellie

During Jason's busy time this year we decided to go visit our cousins Kristy, Nathan and Adam. It was so much fun. We swam in Jim and Kristy's pool every day and went to the beach. It was a great week! | Mariah | Matthew | Emma

This was Mariah's first day of Mrs. Perez's Kindergarten class. Ellie is now in Mrs. Gonzalez and Mrs. Jessen's 3rd grade class. Emma has Mrs. Brewer and Mrs. Mendoza for 5th grade.

This was Matthew's first day of preschool. He goes to the Legacy preschool around the corner from our house. His teachers are Miss Lisa and Miss Shawn. He smiled like this the first couple of weeks when it was time for school, but something snapped after that and he cried for quite some time. Matthew has been our first child who has cried for nursery or preschool. He loves it once he's there, it's just the separation that's hard on him. | Legacy Preschool

Questar Lagoon Day | We always look forward to Grandpa John's work LagoonDay every September. The kids love spending this day with cousins.

Green Valley Resort, St. George Utah | The plan this year was to go to St. George for Aunt Dixie's Family Reunion over Labor Day Weekend. For some reason, it was canceled but we already had a condo booked so we still went. All we could do was swim the entire time because it was so hot. We had a fun time at the pool and being together.

Gateway Discovery Museum | Matthew and Collin-age 3

Gateway Fountains | It was really fun to take Matthew's best friend, Collin on the train to the museum. They both loved it and had a great time playing in the fountains after. They even made a new friend that played with them during our picnic by the fountains.

 Autumn 2010 Conference Weekend | Mariah-5 | Matthew-3 | Ellie-8

 Snowbasin Family Pictures | Emma-10

Matthew's first field trip! October 2010 | I had to leave early from Matthew's field trip so Grandma Mary came with us. Matthew loved the tractors and riding on the hay wagon.

 Black Island Farms Pumpkin Patch

Emma in 5th grade | Isabella and Emma

These are Emma's friends; Chloe, Kylee, and Anika | The whole 5th grade had to do the wax museum project. Emma was Edith Warton. It was a lot of work, but Emma did the whole thing by herself. We were really proud of her.

 Trick or Treat

This Halloween, Emma was Hermine from Harry Potter, Ellie was an Asian Princess, Mariah was a scary witch and Matthew was Spiderman and a lion. Matthew liked the idea of wearing two different costumes this year. One for his preschool program and one for Trick-or-Treating.

Davis High School November 2010 | Show Stopper Productions Presents: "A Mary Poppin Christmas"

This was Ellie and Riah's first performance for Show Stopper Productions. It was so exciting to see them on the stage. They performed in "A Mary Poppin Christmas" and a special Christmas production. The biggest surprise was when Ellie was in the middle of the stage rapping and shakin her hips. We were laughing so hard. Mariah did great in "The Island of Misfit Toys".

Collin and Logan stayed with us for a week in December. We decorated gingerbread cookies.

J O Y | Riding the train to see the lights at Temple Square. We went with the Stepan's, Uncle Andy, Samantha and Eddie.

This was a wonderful Christmas. For our Christmas Eve lesson, we talked about the ten virgins and how we should be prepared for the Second Coming like the five wise virgins. It was great having Grandpa Clete and Grandma Mary for a sleepover. We also loved having Uncle Andy for our Christmas Eve dinner.

 Christmas 2010

Bear River Lodge Cabin December 27-31 2010 | We went in the hot tub after a day of sledding and playing. Jason talked every one into jumping in the snow and getting back into the hot tub. It really hurt, but we all did it. After the hot tub, Ellie puked in the snow. She had a little stomach bug. Good thing she did that after the hot tub!

We rented a cabin the week after Christmas at the top of the Uintas. It was such a nice, relaxing vacation. Hopefully we can do something like this every year. | We spent a lot of time playing the WII, watching movies, and eating junk food in the cabin. | Did I forget to mention the wrestling sessions on the king size bed in the main bedroom? Those were a lot of fun. Jason went down hard!

Sledding was one of the highlights of the trip. We couldn't ask for better weather the first day. There was one time we laughed so hard because we couldn't get on the tube. The snow was so deep.
