S: Making Cider with Papaw 2010
FC: Making Good Cider with Papaw 2010
First...find someone with too many apples...
Pick as many apples as you can reach...but Papaw says never pick them up off the ground, that could make us sick!
Fill up every crate, bucket, and box you can find and load them up in Papaw's little truck.
Don't forget to taste the apples...watch out for worms!
Feed the juicy apples into the hopper...
watch out for juice spraying. It's sticky!
Once we crush the apples, we move the basket under the press...and crank crank crank...until Hayden can't turn the crank one more inch!
Hayden turns the crank, the apples are crushed...and here comes the sweet amber cider!
After straining the fresh juice, it has to be bottled in clean jugs. Rachel helps out with this.
The Donkeys are in for a treat! Making cider takes lots and lots of apples...which makes lots of scraps to give the animals.
 Fresh Cider $4.00 gallon
Making cider with Papaw is one of the funnest things we have done! We learned how to work hard...and for our efforts, we got to drink the BEST cider in the world! | ...when the work was finished, we were allowed to take a spin around the yard in the golf cart, with the scariest driver...Miss Rachel at the wheel! Hang on Hayden!
Thanks Papaw, for taking time to teach us stuff like this...we we always remember! We Love You, Hayden & Rachel Autumn 2010
