Mom's Christmas Scrapbook - Page Text Content

S: You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them. - Desmond Tutu

 The Beginning

Son, you outgrew my lap, but never my heart. | EUROPE

 The Early Years

A characteristic of the normal child is he doesn't act that way very often.

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.

The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page. | A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.

 Home

When you teach your son, you teach your son's son.

Don't wait to make your son a great man - make him a great boy.

 Adventures

 A Widow to Boy Scouts

If you have a mom, there is nowhere you are likely to go where a prayer has not already been.

Life is not the number of breaths you take, but the number of moments that take your breath away.

The invention of the teenager was a mistake. Once you identify a period of life in which people get to stay out late but don't have to pay taxes - naturally, no one wants to live any other way.

so many | God gave us memories that we might have roses in December.

We are all travelers in the wilderness of this world, and the best we can find in our travels is an honest friend

Family Intergenerational Religious Education | God could not be everywhere, so he created mothers.

Where do we go from here?

Mom, You have raised me from your baby boy, into the man that I am today. Only time will tell if you raised me well or not, but the smart money is on 'yes'. Do not think of my going off to college as the end to our memories shared, but as a beginning to so many more cherished moments. I could not imagine having anyone else as a Mother. Everyone says that their Mom is the best, so either they are lying, or I have a lot of brothers and sisters you never told me about. I owe it all to you for where I am today. Thank you for pushing me to do better, catching me when I fell, and helping me back on my way again. So where do we go from here? I haven't the slightest idea, but I know that it will be worth the trip. I imagine that the next pages to fill in our scrapbook of life will my college and med school graduations, my wedding, your first grandkids, and my summit of Everest. Love for ever and always,
