FC: Our First House

 Hanging out

 Around Closing

Jack and I closed on our first house March 30th 2012. It was built in the 1880's and has had 2 additions. One was built in the 1920's and includes our bathroom/kitchen. The second addition was built around 2000 and is our back door/entrance area. It's now 1200 square feet. There's a detached garage that's huge, heated and has 2 levels where eventually guest will go. We also have a shed for all my outdoor toys. It sits on a corner lot that's 1/4 acre. We're excited because I get to play in the yard and Jack gets his garage for projects! Yeah. The house is awesome but we have to reduce our in home life by about 50%. Jack is situated in our room (the purple room) and most of my stuff is in the armour and the guest room.

The 1st week of being owners: - Jack was gone for closing and I still had a week of spring break, so I was free from work:). I closed then moved dirt and did yard work with Shoeman, Kevin Anderberg and Mike Giese. Thanks for the help guys. Jack was home for day 2 of the adventure. - We continued living at the house we rented for the past 10 years. - We worked on floors (Jack put in hardwood floors in the rooms and sanded/refinished the other floors) and I painted walls of our new house. Jack's brother Matt helped paint one day and Giese came to tear up some of the flooring another day.

The 2nd week: - We moved in on Easter! We had great friends help. Thanks Anderberg's, Kerry Hellmuth and family, the Fox's and Giese. We hauled a large truck over then the next day Jack and I worked solo (after school) and hauled another truck over. WE HAVE TOO MUCH STUFF! Time to reduce! Finally at 11pm we hauled our kitchen table to Matt and returned the truck. - Jack had most of the month of April free, so he spent 8-12 hour days working on the house. What did Jack do after moving in? - created the living environment of our new home, made a center island, shelving units, worked on lighting and electricity, redid the pond out back so it's

functioning, trimmed trees and the yard. Unload the boxes. Got the garage set, so people can sleep over if need be:) What did Kori do? - Reduced all her stuff by 50%! Hauled off the majority of it to Sister Carmen. Set-up all the house services (caller/paper pusher). Object remover - loads of yard waste and stuff! On Friday, April 27th we had our first party! It was a combined celebration of house warming/Kori's bday:) Now, Kori finished up the last month of school while Jack begins his travel again directing Team Type 1. Jack's off to Gila, France and Sommerville in May. Kori will travel some with cycling in June.
