1: "We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have." FREDERICK KEONIG | In the Beginning

8: Back in the days when she was young, The fad to be thin had just begun. Now "Rosie" was quite round and plump. And a fancy wedding was coming up. She said to herself, "It would be just fine If the rounding spots were one straight line." She thought about what she could do To change the lines in a place or two. by ("Rosie) Rena Tobin

11: "Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you." NATHANIEL HAWTHORNE

13: I think there will never be A friend who is so dear to me. A friend whose every word is blessed With Love to help me meet each test; A friend who kneeling down to pray Asks God to bless me on my way; A friend who any time of year Can lend a sympathetic ear: And listening to my hurt and pain; Can bring the sunshine out again. Yes, only God can make a tree-- Or make a friend so dear to me. Rena Tobin

16: "Children are a wonderful gift. They have an extraordinary capacity to see into the heart of things and to expose sham and humbug for what they are." DESMOND TUTU

21: Journey's End Kicking and screaming and raising a fuss, We come into the world because we must. We don't want to leave our cozy nest This cold, cold world doesn't seem the best. But as time goes on we grow to see That life is better with our family. We see the beauty, we feel the love, and we wonder what we were thinking of To want to stay in the tiny space We thought was such a cozy place. We travel along the road of life, And in spite of all the stress and strife, We see the wonderful star-lit sky, The sun, the moon and things on high. And we think there's nothing that we can compare With the beautiful world which we now share. Then we learn how God in His great love, Sent His only Son, from His home above, To pay the price of all our sin, And he opened the door and said, "Come in, You are welcome here if you believe my son Gave His life for you and everyone. He will be with you, as your dearest friend, He will travel with you to this life's end." | We travel on, with our heavy load Of pain and suffering--it's a long, long road. We scream and cry at the pain each day, Till we come to a bend and can't see the way. Then Jesus stretches out His hand Saying, "Come with me to a better land-- A land where there is no grief or pain, And you'll never suffer or weep again." We hate to leave this second home, But now we know we are not alone And so we lay down the heavy load, That we carried along the long, long road, And we put our hand in the nail-scarred hand, and enter into a more beautiful land Where we meet our loved ones who have gone before, Who are there to greet us at the open door. So just as we learned, from leaving the "nest," We find it is true--this home is best. Though we hate to leave the ones we love, They will meet us soon in our home above. Rena W. Tobin
