FC: The Polish Town Musicians
Once upon a time, in the land of Germany, a French man owned a donkey that carried the corn-sacks to the mill persistently for many years. One day, however, he began to grow weaker, and was getting more and more lousy for work. The man who owned the donkey started being mean to the donkey for it. so he ran away to go to Poland to become a town musician.
The next day, while walking, the donkey saw a dog lying in the middle of the road. The donkey, surprised, walked up to the dog and asked “Why are you lying in the middle of the road, friend?”
The dog replied “I ran away from home because my Russian family didn’t want me anymore, so I ran away until I couldn’t anymore.” The donkey said “Well, if you want, you can come with me to Poland. I’m going to become a town musician. You can play the drums, and I can play the guitar.” The hound agreed, and the two continued walking to Poland.
The next morning, the donkey and the dog came across a cat sitting in the path, looking very tired and sick. The donkey asked “What has happened to you, my feline friend?”
The cat replied “I used to be living with my loving family, but when I got sick, they weren’t able to help me, so I left to find a doctor.” The donkey said “You look bad, we should find you a doctor. Would you like to come with us to Poland to be a town musician. and find doctor one the way?”
The cat yes “Yes!” with glee. The donkey asked the cat “Would you like to play the bass guitar?” The cat agreed, and the three continued their journey to Poland.
On their way to Poland, the trio found a doctor, who gave the cat some liquid medicine to cure his coughing, headache, stomach ache, and dizziness.
After three long days of walking in it started to rain, and then the trio spotted a rooster on the roof of a house, crowing with all his might. The three walked up to the house, and the donkey asked the rooster “Why are you out here in the rain crowing so loudly, rooster ?”
The rooster replied, “I was a good rooster , and crowed every morning as I was supposed to, but my Spanish owner wants to cook me for dinner, so I want to crow as much as I can before I become supper.”
The donkey replied “But friend, you can come with us if you wish to crow as you do now. We’re going to be town musicians in Poland, and you can come with us and be our singer.” The rooster agreed happily, and crowed one last time before the four set off to Poland once more.
The next day, the donkey, the dog, the cat, and the rooster found an empty house that had an unlocked door. It was still raining, so they went inside and all went to sleep in the living room.
That night, while the animals were sleeping, a robber saw the house that the town musicians were in, but he didn’t know they were there. He decided to rob the house. He went to the front door to find it unlocked, and he went inside straight into the living room, waking the animals.
The rooster started to crow loudly, startling the robber. The cat ran up to the robber and scratched his legs, the dog ran up and barked fiercely, and the donkey kicked the robber right back out the front door.
The robber proceeded to run away frantically, embarrassed and frightened. The animals went back to sleep with pride.
Finally, after 7 long days of walking, the donkey, the dog, the cat, and the rooster made it to Poland, and found another empty house that had space for all of them. Now, they could finally become town musicians, and they lived happily ever after.
