FC: The Petersen Family Christmas December 25, 2010 Walcott, Iowa
'Twas the time of year To gather here; Some came from afar; Others, already near.
Fresh fallen snow swirled all around; Casting a lightness over the ground.
25 December Christmas Day 2010. No longer children. Instead, women and men. | The oldest was 80. The youngest, 18. The rest of us landing gracefully somewhere in between!
First to arrive were Mike, Erin and Lindee. | Traveling all the way from Kansas City!
Don, Cyndi, Wrigley, Andy and Reid Drove in from Des Moines (but they did not speed!)
Sheri and Ryan arrived from Oskaloosa. And, no I did not say Lollapalooza!
Thank goodness for the rest, there was no need to fly! | Kelly, Steve and Sally were already close by.
And Bob and Imo were all snuggled in. So happy to be spending time with their kin.
A bit of wine had been imbibed by the time 'ole Santa did arrive!
There were games, good food and Turtles galore! | No one could have asked for anything more!
Presents were distributed all around. But the gift of this family is what is quite profound!
Belly laughs ring out and memories unfold. Family times like these are worth much more than gold! The bells, they jingle. The evening ends. Time moves forward once again.
One year follows another. Nephews, nieces, daughters, sons. Sisters, brothers, father, mother. A legacy of love is clear! Evident in merry times as we draw near!
And as 'ole Santa heads out to his sleigh, a message for all I heard him say. | "Keep each other close in heart.; no matter whether together or far apart." And giving a nod, away he did fly - up into the bright Walcott sky!
This book is lovingly dedicated to Marie Wissink Van Mechelen. Mother, Grandmother, & Great-Grandmother. She loved returning to Iowa for Christmas. Marie left this world on 2/28/2010. She is missed by all. May she rest in peace.
