FC: Rafferty Family July 2010-July 2011
Pioneer Day Parade- July 2010 | During our trip to Utah, we watched the Bountiful parade. Ammon and Papa Rodgers were even pioneers in the parade until they got to our seats.
The morning of Pioneer Day, we enjoyed delicious sloppy Joe's at Grandma Tate's house. We then came to the Rodgers home for barbecue, homemade ice cream, and fireworks. | 24 | 24th of July
 The Pi
Grand Canyon | rim to rim | OCT 2010
We are on our way to adventure down the Grand Canyon from the south rim all the way to the north rim. After setting up our tent, we had a nice chilly night to try and sleep before our great trek began.
We began in the wee hours of the morning and were able to see the Grand Canyon light up. Each switchback brought a new breathtaking view of the south rim of the Grand Canyon... and some new soreness to our feet and legs.
When we got to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, we continued to hike up and down (no flat ground). Also, when we hiked up the north rim, we thought we could see the top. But when we made it to that top, we saw another top. This repeated about five times. James had several blisters on his feet and Amy kept him going with peach gummy rings. When we reached the rock tunnel, it meant we were almost to the actual top!
When we reached the top, there was much food and rejoicing! The north rim was much chillier than the south rim and when we finally reached our camp site with aching bodies, Amy burst into tears. Luckily Brother McMullin took pity on her and let us share his hotel room. Warm showers were the perfect ending to an 11 hour hike!
This year was the first time we cooked Thanksgiving dinner ourselves. James made a delicious, moist turkey with all the fixings and Amy made a pumpkin mousse pie for dessert.
There is nothing that gets you more in the Christmas spirit than putting the tree up the day after Thanksgiving!
Continuing on with the new Rodgers tradition James began: graham cracker houses..
We get a lot of Christmas. Christmas Eve Eve (December 23rd) was full of games, talking, and the nativity with the Rafferty clan. We had Christmas Even the next day with the Rodgers posse and spent time with both families on Christmas.
We celebrated New Years Eve back at our apartment in Tempe, AZ. We made taco salads, set off sparklers that are now legal in AZ, and brought in January 2011 with some sparkling cider.
 February 13, 2011 2 year engagement anniversary
We started St. Patrick's Day out right with green pancakes. We then hiked Picacho Peak where we saw the fattest squirrel in the world. Afterwards, Amy got to relive the childhood memory of eegees.
After two years, Amy graduated with a Masters in Elementary Education from ASU. | May 2011
We celebrated our birthdays with a Melting Pot feast!
As a final shebang before Caleb left for Paraguay, the four oldest planned to go to the Pie to spend what may be the last time in four years that we are all together. | It turned out to be us minus Caleb so we changed our visit to be a celebration of life without Caleb :p. | June 2011
"Love is patient, love is kind. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres...." 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
We celebrated the 4th of July with smoothies, fireworks next to Tempe Beach Park, and Amy's first taste of funnel cake.

For our 2nd year anniversary, Amy cooked dinner and we had a picnic on our bed... the only air conditioned room of our house. We then went to a Ben Folds concert. The concert was standing room only so in total we stood for 5 hours. SO WORTH IT! We were about 8 feet away from the Ben Folds piano action.
