20: 12 January 2009 My dearest Mary Ellen, I am thrilled to pieces that I could make it to the reunion! Ojej! I was blown away by all the love! You can't imagine how much I love you and all of my sisters. When you got our "grona" together this summer, little did you know the impact having you and all my sisters back in my life would mean. I know for sure you were an instrument of God at work. I know in my heart it was for me! I'm so glad you found me! I so-o-o-o needed you all in my life again, especially now! Thank you, my dearest sister, for all you have given me - especially the gift of my sisters ! All the letters and cards. . . when I gaze lovingly at them around me I think of all of you. I know your love and prayers surround me. I'll stay in touch. I may be busy with tests or unable to call or write, but I'm not too busy to keep you in my heart. I read a little note that reminded me of how I feel about you and my sisters: If you should wake up in a dark red room with no windows or doors, know that you are in my heart. Need I say more? Remember always that I love you... You sister forever, Terri | (note from M.E.: You do know, of course, that all of Terri's exclamation marks had little hearts instead of periods, don't you? ) | "Dziekuje bardzo" for all your efforts, time, and energy in making a once-thought about connection a reality. The experience was greatly appreciated and will long be remembered. Many of those memories of 40 years ago seem like events from yesterday, some better than others, but all of them packed away with lessons for our journey... It was a joy to be "on pilgrimage" with you. Love, Patti Ann | I thank you all for truly being my sisters after so many years, for sharing your memories and awakening many of mine, for reminding me of how and why we forged such bonds, for making me feel once again that there was something about us that called us together on that idealistic adventure in '62. Basia
21: Mary Ellen, I can't thank you enough for all your time and hard work in finding us and bringing us together. It truly was a life-changing experience for me. I feel WHOLE again. There's a joy deep, deep inside me that hasn't been there for over 40 years - and I didn't even know it. I know it was the Lord Who brought us together. We are still His 'chosen' ones. And this is His most wonderful way of showing us we are still precious to Him, no matter how varied the paths are that we've chosen to follow. What an awesome Lord! And I also believe it was our Lady who searched and found each of us and brought us to your attention. She's right by your side going out and finding all her daughters who are lost - and bringing them home. Mary has stepped in the place of our moms who have passed away, and boy! is she ever doing an incredible job! Love, your sister - Bernie | My dear sisters, What a year it has been!! When I think that a little over a year ago, I didn't even know where all of you were - I realize just how blessed I have been. At the start of this journey (over 10,000 road and rail miles ago) I thought it was for me, but with each step I find it is all for us - the Soul Sisters '62! We are something! I can hardly wait to see where this next year takes us. Hopefully there are more reunions in our future and, God willing, more sisters to be found. I want to thank you all for making this one of the most memorable years of my life. You truly are a remarkable group of women. Your endless love astounds me; your generosity humbles me. I daily come to understand what I was told over 40 years ago by a very wise priest: "You think you are returning to your family when you leave. You're not. You're leaving your family, for your bonds are here. A part of you will always be here." It has taken me far too long to see the truth in his words. I love you all dearly. You fill a unique spot in my heart and in my soul. There are things that only you can understand for you went through it all with me. You are the sisters of my soul. Your very proud Najstarsza, Mary Ellen (Zosia)
