1: Her name was Dorothy Christina (Hodge) Smith. She grew up in De Soto, Mo. She lived with her parents and siblings on a farm. Her father went to St. Louis to get a job for more money while her brothers helped their mother on the farm. Her parents didn't get along very well so he lived in St. Louis and they were separated when she was two years old. She graduated 8th grade and didn't go to high school because she needed to go get a job to help her mother during the war. She worked at a shoe factory in St. Louis. She was 15 years old when she got her first job in St. Louis. Before she graduated, she met Arthur before the war. They all went to school in De Soto, Mo. She walked to school because there was no buses back then. While Art was in the Navy, they wrote each other until he came back from the Navy, she and Art went together for a year before they were married. After the war ended, they got married and had four children. When their first child was two years old, they moved to California because there was more work out there. About seven years later, they moved back to Missouri until Art got a job in Oklahoma, they moved to Oklahoma. A little over a year later, they separated and she moved back to Missouri with her four children. They never divorced in the United States but he filed for divorce in Mexico. After her children were grown and married, she went to Jefferson College and got her G.E.D. diploma.

2: She was born to Gilbert William and Mollie Mae (Blackwell) Hodge on July 8, 1928 in De Soto, Mo. She was the last child of eight children.

8: She was 17 years old when she married Arthur Moore Smith on March 2, 1946 in De Soto, Mo. He was the fourth son of William Frances and Martha Katherine (Cotton) Smith. He went into the Navy when he was 18 years old for World War II for 2 1/2 years. 9: She and her husband had four children, Sandra Lynn who was born in Missouri and Steven Arthur, Roxann, and Robert William who were born in California.

26: Her first born Sandy grew up and married Donald Paul Pinson and had a daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Ann and then divorced and married Lilburn Joseph "Butch" Cash and had a son Sonny Wayne. Her second born Steve grew up and married Belinda Margaret Richey and had two daughters, Candi Lynn and Christy Louise and then divorced. Her third born Roxann grew up and married Donald Ray Johnson and had a daughter Kimberly "Kim" Sue and then divorced. | Her fourth born Robert grew up and married Maureen Elise Rainey and had a daughter, Heather Marie and then divorced and married Iva Lynn Coplin.

32: She was 73 years old who died on May 21, 2002 at St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. She was retired from the De Soto Shoe factory. Born on July 8, 1928 in De Soto, Mo. She was the daughter of the late Gilbert William and Mollie Mae (Blackwell) Hodge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Moore Smith. She is survived by two daughters, Sandy Cash and Roxann Johnson; two sons, Steve and Robert Smith; a brother Glenwood R. Hodge, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. She was cremated and buried at Beaver Reservoir in Ward, Colorado and at Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto, Missouri to be around her mother and siblings. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was always there for her four children and loved to spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful woman and was patient sincere, loving, compassionate, and a hard worker.
