 Written & Illustrated By: Me

There was a man named Lee. He was a humble man, who didn’t ask for much, but a wife and children. One day, he found a much unexpected surprise. He was walking in the forest when he had found a poor, young lady named Maria. Lee thought it was love at first sight.

She was in need of shelter, for she was weary from travel. Lee welcomed her to his house. Surprisingly, she liked him too, but they were afraid of what the other would say about what they think of each other.

Lee welcomed her to his house. Surprisingly, she liked him too, but they were afraid of what the other would say about what they think of each other. They finally confessed of what they thought of each other and were happy to hear what the other had to say. Maria was no ordinary woman; she was the goddess of the Land. She was beautiful and knew of all what Lee thought of her before he said it.

Maria had not told Lee or anyone of her secret for she was to remain disguised and hidden. She was ordered by her brother, the god of the heavens to return after she had finished her duty to restore the beauty of the forsaken land of Siberian region in Russia. Lee was suspicious of Maria having a secret, for she was gone for long hours of the day and sitting by the hearth when she returned.

When Maria had left again, Lee followed her making sure to stay out of her sight. Maria was not afraid of what was following even though she knew not of what it was. Finally, Maria had reached her destination. Lee saw that it didn’t look like anything special, but wondered why she would go to the frozen Siberian Region. Lee left swiftly, trying to be as silent as possible. Maria didn’t see or hear anything.

On the way home, Lee had gotten lost in the thick forest. He stayed in a cave for a night because of a furious lightning storm. Maria had gotten home and became worried because Lee was nowhere to be found.

While Lee was asleep, Tontos, the god of travel, visited Lee in a vision. Tontos had placed a vision in Lee’s mind to make Lee know the way out of the forest. Maria met Lee at home when he had returned.

Lee confessed what he had done and Maria was upset for a long time. She couldn’t believe what he had done. Maria was upset because he would have never told her if he had not gotten lost in the forest. She had forgiven him because he had told her. Lee was okay with keeping the secret after Maria had told him what she was really doing. She told him that she was renewing the Siberian Region.

Her brother had gotten furious with her and had forbidden she see Lee again. He had destroyed all that she had done and made her bound to heaven. Maria could never return to Earth. She now understood why she was punished and never allowed to fall in love with a mortal. Maria understood that if she did fall in love with a mortal and have a child, she would lose her powers over the land and she would always outlive her husband.

Maria told Lee that she could never marry him. Lee had waited many years of being alone and refused to marry. He finally got over it and found a woman who was just his age. They had gotten married and had a child. Lee noticed that he had true love with his wife and it was better that he married Catharine. He had a happy and fulfilling life with Catharine.
