FC: Timeline Project by Elizabeth Savage

Background Info Darla Jean Ramsey was born on January 11, 1941, in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born to a Church of Christ preacher and housewife.

Early, Middle, & Late Childhood Darla was adventurous and imaginative. She was an only child for seven years, and had trouble regulating her emotions. But her parents had an authoritative parenting style and displayed emotion-coaching. This helped her learn the appropriate way to act. She loved school and was excited to learn. She became a good basketball player, made many friends, and was considered a popular child.

Adolescence Like many adolescents, Darla gained a heightened preoccupation with body image, thinking her glasses made her ugly. She didn't have a lot of parental conflict, & liked spending time w/ them. She helped out in her community. She married Othel Savage when she was 16.

Early Adulthood Darla became a housewife. Although money was tight, she and Othel had a consummate love. At 18, Darla had her first child, then had another at 19. Darla, Othel, & her children moved to a farm in Stratford, OK. She had three more children. She became a secretary at Stratford Public Schools. Darla's faith in God kept her marriage and family strong.

Middle Adulthood Darla became a grandmother Her father died from heart failure. She began seeing a cardiologist and became more active. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, going on walks with them. Darla began having more time to spend with friends.

Late Adulthood Darla developed cataracts. She now wears a hearing aid. She recently had knee replacement surgery. She does mind games to keep her cognitive ability sharp. She retired from her job, allowing her to spend more time with her family. She finds joy in being able to attend her grandkids' events. As she looks back on her life she feels a sense of integrity.
